My flat screen is just a year old and is now
"arcing" for lack of a better word. Sort of a quick random static.
It is on a counter in kitchen, on a pedastal, with a 3" space below the cabinet above it.
This TV replaced a 14" Sylvania flatscreen that simply went to black after 1 year. The quote to repair was almost as much as I paid for it.
What type of Universal Remote Control can I purchase for a ZENITH Concierge, Model H2735DT, TV?

Verticals through the picture often denote that other televisions in the house or area are effecting your viewing. The only way that can take place is if your signal is too weak to overcome it. It is not your TV but as you've suspected, a lack of quality signal. Call your cable provider for a service tech to sort out a solution. You could take the set over to another friends and prove the TV is OK.
no ....the tube will end up after 20 yrs in 10 yr old sony... it is worth if u fix it. randomly going black means...horizontal driver trans former is the problem..or any loose contact with the 110 volt supply to that transformer,,or any loose contact with line o/p transformer.. (horizontal driver transformer may be gone then tv behaves like this) if any other parts gone tv wont come back.... there may be a loose contact call a service pro..

This model has a chronic problem with the crt socket arcing and causing this problem. The only true fix is to replace the crt socket locate on the small bd. that plugs on the back of your picture tube. You can however have some success by locating the focus control on the flyback transformer and slighly adjusting it until the unit stops arcing. If you are not familiar with high voltage safety then please have a qualified service tech perform this repair.
Try to remove the cover of your unit and clean the tube with a dry cloth. try to look for the anode cap. the one tht is connected to your tube if there are holes in it. This causes the problem.
This problem sounds like a short inside the picture tube itself unless a driver transistor failed that drives the red gun in the CRT. You may have to take it to an authorized repair facility if the picture tube is still in warranty.
where or what location did you check the voltage at??? Need more info and what do you mean static problem because static on the front of a tv sctreen is normal. and gets worse when you have forced air heat. need more info please.
