Question about LG GSA-4160B DVD±RW Burner
For some reason my burner won't recognise these discs. They are both TDK and when I tried updating the firmware the programme couldn't locate my drive and there was no browse option to find it. I followed the "read me" file attached to the firmware upgrade to the letter. It was a301 upgrade. The message through nero disc info is something along the lines of "No Disc Found". I can still burn dvd+/-R 4.7gb discs and the drive shows up in My Computer & in device manager. Anyone got any suggestions???
In order to upgrade the firmware the LG drive MUST be on it's own IDE channel and 60 conductor cable and be set as master.
Quoted from the LG support firmware file download:
Critical Instructions: (to be followed carefully)
1. Connect the drive as master by it self, on the secondary IDE controller with no other device on the same IDE cable, making note to set the jumper on the back of the drive to the master position.
To check this open the computer case.
