Logitech internet handset "UNAVAILABLE" error

Installed driver and plugged in USB base station, and it WORKED like a dream this morning, however now I try and the (fully charged) handset only gives me "UNAVAILABLE" when I try to show my list of Skype contacts. Also, whoever I call, I get a "busy" tone but the call isnt even going out because theres no delay between calling and getting the signal. Have tried using + / 00 / 011 prefixes as suggested but doesnt change anything. Have also rebooted and restarted Skype a few times. HELP!

Mine was working fine at one point. I had been using it the night before without issue. However later on when I went to make a call the next day the handset said Disconnected.

Any Skype functions said "Unavailable". Rebooting the PC, Restarting the Headset Software and Skype didn't fix the issue.

The fix for mine was to go into "Menu" then "System" on the Handset and do a reset. Soon as it was done, the Skype info popped backup on the handset and it was fixed.

For those who haven't changed it, the default PIN on these handsets is 0000 <-- Zero's

The solution above works, but wasn't made clear to me how to reset the handset, and it isn't in the manual.

I was stymied because: "register" was not a menu option for me on my handset?

It turns out there are TWO menus. Two access the second one you need to disconect the base from the computer.

So to reset the handset:
1. Discontect handset base from computer
2. click on left top button to access Menu
3. Click register.
3. Enter pin (defualt is 0000) - four zeros.

You're back in action.

None of the solutions provided worked for me. In the end, I had to unregister the handset from the base unit and re-register it.

Under the latest Skype -version 3.20158 - selext Tools, the Options, then Advanced. Look at the bottom of the menu and you will see "Manage other programs access to Skype". Select that and you will see "LOGI_HD5.EXE not allowed to use Skype" or something to that effect. Select change and allow it to use Skype. Problem solved.

I was having the busy signal when calling out.. here is what worked for me.

When dialing a number hold down 0 to get the + before you enter a number.

For example making a call within the US to a US number it would be: +6045556666

I have a ge27851f-2 cordless dual phone and both handsets say unavailable even when paired at the base.

If the base station is plugged into the phone line you should be able to designate one phone as the master. That phone should be on the base station when charging. If you look in the manual it should show you how to redo the master. It's usually just pushing a button when on the station. Just takes a second. That will also enable the phone to work with the base station. It locks out any phones that haven't been physically connected to the bases. To do the second phone you may have to do a slightly differant process to register it with the bases.

I cannot register the handsets to the new base station I had an 8100-2 base that quit working. I bought a new 8100-1 base. Can I change the MAC ID on the phones so they will accept the new base station?

If you cannot register the handset then here are some possible causes and solutions for them.

Cause 1:The handset and the base station were not prepared for registration.
Solution: Unplug and then plug in the power adapter.

Cause2:The handset or the base station has not been entered into registration mode.
Solution: See User Manual for correct registration of base station and handset.

Cause3:The base station is registered full.
Solution: Press [Page Key] on the base station to page the registered handsets, then perform the deregistration operation. Finally, register the handset you want to use.

Here is few more of additional info. if you want:

Register the Handset to the Base Step 1:
Place the accessory handset in the base station of the system. For some simple systems this may be all you need to do to register the new handset. If so, the LCD screen will read "Registration Complete."
Step 2:
Press the "menu" button on the base station, scroll down to "register handset" and press "ok."
Step 3:
Press and hold either "#" or "OK" (depending on the brand) on your handset until your hear the indicator tone. At this time the LCD should confirm the handset is registered.
Reset Handsets with the Base Step 1:
Clear the registration information from the base if you want to register your handset to a new base.
Step 2:
Hold [] and [#] down on the base for a minimum of 5 seconds or until the "System Reset" menu appears.
Step 3:
Choose the "deregister" option from the menu and scroll down to the handset you wish to remove.
Step 4:
Press "OK" to de-register the correct handset. Press "yes" when you are asked if you are sure, and wait for the confirmation tone.
Reset Handsets without the Base Step 1:
Hold [] and [#] down on the phone for a minimum of 5 seconds until the "System Reset" menu appears.
Step 2:
Choose the "base unavailable" menu, select "yes" and press the "OK" button.

My phone says no link to base but I am right beside it.

Sounds like the antenna on the base station is not receiving, or the cordless handset is not transmitting -OR- the sets have never been registered to the base station (please look up registering to base station, if the set has never been registered)

Did the cordless set work before?

The base station or the handset may just have a hick up, I would un-plug the base station and leave it un-plugged... now get all the cordless set(s), and take out the batteries from the cordless set(s). Wait for about 15 seconds for all the power to drain out of the sets, then re-install the batteries.

Once all the cordless sets are back up and working, plug in the base station and wait for about 1 minute.
This forces the base station to re-establish and link between the base station and the cordless sets.

Good luck

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

1. Disconnect the power to the base station.
2. Remove the batteries from the handset - leave them out for a few minutes and when you replace them, don't try to turn the handset on: just put it in the charger base and leave it for 15 minutes or so.
3. Plug in the power to the base station and leave it for a minute to settle down.
4. Take the handset out of the cradle and turn it on.

Rate it, if it helps.

Logitech cordless internet handset for skype -- base unit problem

You can uninstall the Skype Application and reinstall it in compatiblity mode and chose XP. To do this right click on the install exe and go to the compatibility tab/section and from the drop down chose XP. Then try reinstalling it.
That has solved a lot of issue for me with Vista.
Let me know if you need anymore help or if that does not solve your issue.

witrh my logitech camera and it installed without any problem.

or you can fix your usb driver and try it in anothrt port of usb

Ge cordless phone station 2 shows unavailable

You have to register the hand set in the main base. Place each handset in the base for 15 seconds minimum. It will change form unavailable to Ready when it grabs the signal from the base. If the power goes out, you will have to re-register each hand set in the base before you use them again.

2nd handset doesn't work

Hi Rayfatz,
I think your problem might be that the second handset is not registered with the base station. Take the second phone out of it's cradle and place it in the base station (where the first phone is), and leave it there for 20 seconds. Place it back in it's own cradle, and it should start working. Hope this helps! Hal
