Re: colman furnace

Look on your burner control relay - look for terminals marked T and TH.  connect up a honeywell thermostat here.

Installed this thermostat a year ago and was working fine, Noticed the heat wasn't kicking on like usual, the thermostat is set for 75 and the temperature in the house is continuing to drop in the 60's. I...

I want you to try this simple way of trouble shooting the thermostat. Remove it from it's mounting and you need to locate the wiring for it, now the red and white run your furnace. If you join the two wires together your furnace should run, this makes it run with out a thermostat so it never shuts down. Now what you learn is if it runs it is a bad thermostat, if it does not run it is in the furnace control. Can be a stuck relay or bad board in the furnace, this is the easiest way to check the thermostat that I know of.

Wires got pulled out by mistake don't know what wire goes where the wire is old and discolored help!!!!

Is your wiring where it's hooked into the furnace still identifable as to color. If so one way to tell whats what is to remove wires from furnace one at a time and disconnect all wires from base of thermostat. Use a ohm meter and one very long test wire. Hook to known wire on one end and use test wire to check wires on t-stat end. When you read closed circuit reattach wire to furnace and lable t-stat end as to color. Connections on base of thermostat should be marked with R,W,G,and y. Check each wire one at a time and when you know what color each wire is hook t-stat base back up,put cover back on and check out. A much eaiser way if you can identify wire color and existing wire is accessible in basement or whever your furnace is . Discconect wires from furnace and see if you can pull wire back up to thermostat. If you're lucky they won't be stapeled inside wall. If you can move wire easily buy approximate length of new wire at hardware store. Most of them will sell wire by the foot. Strip about 3/4 inch of insulation from each wire and twist all wires from old to new and wrap all of it with electrical tape. Carefully pull new wire to t-stat and connect there and to furnace. Good luck. I hope this helps. Thanks

I have a RUUD Furnance with a piolet light. There

If you have a pilot, then this is an older furnace. Most of them use a 2 wire thermostat. Allot of the new digital, programmable thermostats require a 3rd wire - a common to the thermostat. Allot of old furnaces do not have a common terminal on the furnace board. It can be done, but takes a good technician. The way around this is to use a digital, programmable thermostat that will operate on straight battery. It will be stated on the thermostat package, saying it will operate with a common wire from the furnace or with only the use of the batteries.
Then make sure that you hook up the 2 wires to the "R" terminal and one wire to the "W" terminal, it doesn't matter which thermostat wire goes to which terminal.
Note: If you have a air conditioner installed, it will be a different story.
Good Luck,
Paul Gibson

No heat after installing honeywell thermostat H8110U

hook up the blue wire in the furnace cabinet where the blower section and the other thermostat wires are connected to the furnace. the thermostat you have uses a common wire from the thermostat to the furnace and this needs to be hooked up in the furnace otherwise you will have the problem you are having.

I had an old two wire system, red and white. gas

Check for a bad thermostat and wire by jumping the red and white wire together at the thermostat. If the unit fires, you have a bad thermostat. If it does not, jump the R and W terminals at the furnace (or where ever the thermostat wires are connected to). If the unit fires you have a bad wire. If it still does not fire, you have an issue with the heating system not the thermostat or its wires.

My fan is always on on my colman model eb12a furnace and i dont have much heat comeing out of the vents

If the room air fan is always on you could have the thermostat in the On position rather than in the Auto position, You could have a bad fan relay or the furnace is a "Lock-out" mode. A Lock-out occurs when the furnace attempted to start but could not for some reason. The computer board logs an error code and blinks a number of times. There should be an error code chart where ever the wiring diagram is located in the furnace. It may give you an idea where to start looking if in Lock-out. Good luck.

Need to hook up a honeywell rth2310b with only 2 wires!

In some situations the wall plate has no markings, there are just two terminals hooked up to the control wire for the heater. I just installed this thermostat on my gas fireplace. I connected the black wire to the Rc terminal and the white wire to the W terminal. With the thermostat set to heat it works perfectly. Thanks to johnptaylor for the help!
