So I assume your tried the removing the waste receptacle to the left side of the machine? Sometimes coffee grinds build up on the side as well. If you can't press the "press" lever then something may be stuck with coffee bean grease and or grinds, no?

I cannot re-insert the brew group into my machine. It clicks at the top but not the bottom

I had a similar problem with the brew group in my espresso machine. The gears wouldn't mesh. Try inserting the handle of a fork in the gear of the brew group, (or something that fits) moving it a little either way, and try again. Hope it works for you.

Saeco Royal Digital Plus - I cannot insert the brew unit into the machine

Hi Remove the dredge drawer. Open the right side door. On the left side and towards the back of the brew group, there is a single screw. Remove the screw. Grab the handle and pull carefully, but firmly. The brew group should come out. There is a piece that remains in the machine. Slide the piece down and to the right and it will come off. Insert the piece into the hole on the backside of the brew group with the clip up. Tighten the screw and move brew group back into position. To return the brew group to the centered position, you first need to drop the funnel. To do this, look on the opposite side of the brew group from the handle. At the top you will see an object that looks like a sharks fin. If you follow this piece down you will see 2 horizontal bars on the brew group body. Push your finger between these 2 bars and the funnel will drop. Now you can push the puck slide on the left side down and to the center. If you look down through the funnel you should see a piston. This should be centered in the funnel. If not just push the slide to the right until it does. Push the press button and you are now ready to reinsert the brew group in to the machine. First you must close the door, insert the dredge drawer and turn on the machine without having the brew group in. You will hear the motor turn on and when it stops completely, open the door, pull out the dredge drawer and insert the brew group. Done PS: If it still won't go in you might have a broken brew drive. The gear in the back of the machine where the brew unit goes has 2 large teeth. They should be in the 10:00 and 12:00 position. If they are in the 3:00 and 5:00 or that side you have a broken drive and the gears need to be replaced.

If it still won't go in check the cog in the back of the machine. There are 2 wide teeth that should be at the 10:00 and 12:00 position. If they are at a different position you have a broken drive gear.

Hi
I have seen some of these machines with over 40,000 coffees in the display, but they do need a little care. One is the brew group. Cleaning is good but not as often as a lot of people do. I clean and lube mine about every 3,000 coffees (I have a display) Lubrication is necessary but only in 3 places. Do not lube the tracks, that just attracts coffee grounds and that can damage the brew drive when they pack into the tracks at the top by the brew head. It prevents the brew unit from cycling all the way through, and it busts the drive gears, and I think that is what is wrong with your machine. It can be fixed. Places to lube with food grade not food based lubricant.
Put some lube on a Q tip and lube.
  1. The big Orange O-ring on the brew head
  2. The receiver on the back side of the brew unit. Lube inside top to bottom. (it looks like the end of a smoking pipe)
  3. On the bottom of the brew unit there is a rod in the center with a wish bone going through the end. Lube the rod towards the center of the brew unit all the way around.
You must make sure that the brew unit is ready to reinsert into the machine. To return the brew group to the centered position, you first need to drop the funnel. To do this, look on the opposite side of the brew group from the handle. At the top you will see an object that looks like a sharks fin. Saeco talea touch - grinds & brews coffee into grounds drawer??

Try this, adjust the grind to a coarser setting atleast 2 numbers, then remove brew unit and look behind at white plastic valve, there is a small chamber under valve make sure chamber is clean and that the small discharge from chamber to drain tray is also clear. Then remove shower screen from brew unit and clean if necessary, also check the tube from the shower. Reinsert and test.

Problem getting a Full Cup of Coffee

besides descaling you need to lube the brew group, especially the bit that accepts the group nozzle. You might have a leaking boiler too, 6 years is pretty good for a vienna.

Remove the brew group and look for the two red o-rings on teh brass bit, smear some lube on it, they might need replacing by now, but luckily they aren't too expensive and readily available albeit a bit tricky to install, a good light and some patience is very important.

Saeco Vienna gear jammed

This has happened to me. If the problem is the brew group gear is in the wrong position, you can manipulate the brew group until it matches up with the drive gear in the machine. You'll know it matches if you can insert the brew group back in the machine full until it clicks.
