Your hard drive via USB connection did not power on your hard drive so your PC can't detect the drive. I don't believe the cause is your software. Try another UBS port, if that doesn't work power down your PC, connect your drive and boot up to see if the program detects the drive.

Convert usb raw drive to fat drive

The Fat32 (FAT) format is used to format disk drives on Windows-based computers and can also be recognized by the Mac's OS X operating system. You can format a flash drive with the FAT format so that it can be used on both PCs and Macs. The procedure is straightforward, if different depending upon the operating system being used to do the formatting. You do not need to purchase any additional software to format the Flash drive in the FAT format.

Conversion of file system

The conversion is actually necessary if you are going to use this device with Windows 7. Windows 7 will not read a FAT32 partition. All drives can be converted to NTFS, just remember the conversion is one way. It cannot be changed back without a complete format.

A FRIEND REMOVED A DRIVE FROM MY OLD COMPUTER. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW I CAN GET THE PICTURES FROM THIS DRIVE WITHOUT INSTALLING IT INTO MY NEW COMPUTER. THERE MUST BE A WAY. PLEASE HELP!

You need a USB converter for this purpose. It helps to connect standard IDE harddisk to your computer through USB port. You need to connect your hard disk to that converter and it will work just like other mass storages (USB sticks, data travellers).

I have two Gigaware IDE enclosures with USB

My guess is not enough power is available to run both devices at once.
Do your hubs have a external power supply?
Do the IDE Enclosures have a port for their own connection to a power supply?

The available power on a the pc's usb port is about 500ma (from memory)

Have a look at how much power your IDE disks actually need. It should be written on the label.
If the total is more than 500 ma then you will need to provide more power either via your usb hub or to the enclosure directly.

Hope this helps.
