Re: Installing new OS
Every laptop is accompanied by a preinstalled vesion of Windows, on the same hard disk in a hidden space. So if you get a prompt to restore your laptop to a previous state at the beginning of system startup, press the relevant key.
If windows xp is your choice. and want to install it you may need follow the installation instruction from your system manufacturer.
When the system starts up some information is displayed on the screen, like this: " Press F1 to enter setup"
If you press the relevant key and enter the BIOS setup you can find the CPU temperature settings, shutdown temperature etc...
This may not be you case. So I suggest you to get support from a qulified technician. Your system hardware should have some problem. (motherboard or hard disk is more prone to error)
you can also try to find information from your system vendor's manuals and support website.

If you mean wiping your hard disk clean and installing Windows again then - Installing Windows XP This is generally how your format the hard disk and install Windows. First you need a Windows XP installation CD and the product installation code, which is printed on the Windows label on the bottom of your laptop. Boot up with the Windows installation CD start and follow the instructions to install Windows. Next Delete the existing Windows partition. Next Create a new partition. Next format this new partition - Format the partition in NTFS not a quick format. This will prepare the Windows for a clean install. Next create a Username and company name (normally Home is all you need). Further into the installation, you will be required to put in the Installation code. During the final stages of installation you need to create an User or Users that will use this computer. When you finished installing Windows you need to install the laptop's device drivers. You need to use a computer with Internet access to download these drivers from the laptop manufacturer's WEB site and install these drivers on your laptop. Next connect a LAN cable to the LAN port from your computer to your DSL or cable modem and you need to Activate the Windows installation on the Microsoft WEB site. Next up need to upgrade Windows from the Microsoft WEB site including Service pack.
What is your problem specifically? Is it that there is no hard disk detected when you try to install windows xp?
Try using third party software to detect the hard disk on your laptop Try this link. It will basically give you your hard drive driver while installing windows xp. You will also need an external floppy disk drive if you dont have diskette drive in your laptop.
Did the laptop you got come at least with a windows XP cd? If so boot the laptop off of that and try to install Windows XP and see if it goes thru. Just make sure during the installation you tell it to delete the partitions first and then let it go thru that way you know for sure the hard drive is clean at that point.
are you install OS inside you notebook is windows xp profesional SP2???? because follow my information the rest of driver can istall just by the acer cd driver only driver display and wireless you nees to download from other link internet.

It must be a processor overheating problem, check the vents are not restricted and if the fan is always on or never comes on because of a faulty temp setting then theres a overheating problem and the processor will shut down before any damage.
