Question about Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium for PC

2 Answers

Had win8 went back to win7

I have a Dell Inspirion 3521 laptop that came with windows 8. I HATE win 8!!! I own a different Dell that came with Win7 Home premium CD. I did a fresh install over win 8 with the win 7 CD. Everything seemed to work except the graphics are still the cheesy looking win 8 graphics and I am missing my USB Serial Host Controller, Ethernet driver controller, and I think the Nvidia driver. Can't seem to find these drivers or a way to update them on the Dell support site. All the windows 7 updates came throught as soon as I connected to the internet and the system did the updates as well as SP1 for Windows 7. Any ideas? thanks. Robbie

Drivers can be found here:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-15-3521
You probably need the Network & Chipset drivers, but make sure you get the right ones for your model.

Hi
Win 7 is extremely touchy about network drivers. I didn't see your computer model listed but you'll need to log onto your computer manufacturers support page and download the Win 7 drivers for the network. Since your internet connection doesn't work right now I'd suggest another machine, if you have one or go to your local library with a Flash Drive and download the drivers to that. Good Luck

You need the Intel Pro 100 driver for XP. Go to the following web link at Intel: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/network/pro100ve and download the driver. Copy it to a flash drive. Put the flash drive into your PC that needs the LAN driver and double-click it to install it.

You may need to "wipe" or reformat your entire C drive to be able to install Windows program again. I would suggest installing WIN7 program as WIN XP is at its end of life cycle for that operating system and Microsoft may not support it any longer.

If possible try installing WIN7 once again, and if requested to reformat or do an entire install, choose YES.

WIN 7 should then reformat your C drive, erase everything that is on it and then install as WIN7 program.

Be sure you have your program license key to install WIN7.

If the COA is for Win7, then Win8 won't be legal. Either purchase a code from microsoft or reinstall 7.

Windows not booting up

Sounds like you have lost any information that was there so I would insert your XP disk, boot from it and delete all partitions then install XP on an empty disk.
Go to Hp and download the XP drivers for your computer, the windows drivers are not correct.

Not possible unless you download a Win8 ISO from Microsoft and then use your COA to run it.

Win8 is very data hungry. Nearly everything you do requires an internet connection.
Go to a better bundle or use Win XP or Win7

I would say your Graphics Adapter is going. Has it been overheating? Have you cleaned the Fan, Vents, Heatsink? Have you connected to a External Monitor? If the problem follows to the external monitor it's likely a Graphics Adapter problem, which is a problem in a laptop. Have you tried booting to Safe Mode? In safe mode your windows software will use the generic graphics driver.
