Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

Emachines T2698? This is my sisters computer and she ahs had it for sometime not really sure how long but just this past weekend the computer was running real slow and her father in-law went ahead and did a system restore. She told me that when they got done with the restore everything worked better. She also has a Emachines laptop that is acting up and so she went to try her desktop computer. She pushed the power button and it came on but it stops at a big E on the screen and you can't do anyting from there. Tried to enter safe mode, nothing but when another thing is that when you push the power button while it is on the computer shuts off fast. I mean faster then any computer I have ever touched. I am not sure where to go from here. I know that the system restore would help ut I am not sure why it is not booting up to anything. Everything would help I am sure and this is something new to me so I am really waiting to learn what to do in a situation like this. Thank you

Re: Emachines T2698?

Hi, On the e-Machine desktop, go to the CMOS/BIOS set-up and set everything to default or fail-safe settings. Save and Exit. Verify also that the desktop auto detected the hard disk. If the unit will still not boot to the OS, you may have to reinstall/recover. Slip in the installer/recovery CD and opt for "Repair" Hope that this be of some help/idea. Post back how things stand or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.

I am wondering where the firewire connection is on my Emachine T2698?

I've researched this model and in all the reviews and emachine manual, and product information, does NOT suggest that the system has a firewire port on the system. I may be incorrect in my findings, but if you do have a firewire port, it is shaped similar to a usb port only the one side has a arched design. and some are that of a reverse mini usb configuration. this picture will show both. if you do have a firewire port available on your pc , this image will direct you to it by a visual recognition. hope this was helpfull. billfox1966.png

How do I connect my lexmark printer to my emachines computer

well there should be a connector that goes from the printer to the computer. I have a Lexmark printer it has a USB cable that connects to my emachines tower. Plug the printer in, be sure your computer is off when you plugged your printer in. Then turn the computer on, it should recognize your printer after it boots up. If not you may have some software that came with the printer(sometimes you need the software)Follow any onscreen prompts(for driver or updates)

A window should come up that will walk you through the setup process. Where the computer has you test to make sure the printer prints correctly. It should be pretty self explanatory

My emachines T2698 won't start up. When I turn it

Using the restore discs might not have been so benign; nevertheless, perhaps your machine was off-put by a new piece of hardware (e.g. USB drive, external HD, webcam, etc.) you put on.
Unplug all but the basics; mouse, keyboard, speakers, monitor...and just reboot, selecting Boot Normally and hitting Enter if asked to choose.
For that matter make sure the monitor's plugged in well, clean out the machine with compressed air and a canister vacuum, check that the videocards etc. are well seated...and retry.

Failing that, give some proper detail as to what works, what's unpromising, and what's unexpected.

If you have reformatted the hard drive there's no windows there at the c partition anymore for you to boot into. If so, read about format and reinstall on google.

Keyboard does not work

need to what? I'm not sure what the rest of the question is but it sounds like you need to keep your computer from going to sleep mode. You can do this by clicking on your start menu then going to control panel then inside power options you can turn sleep mode off. There really is no real reason for a home pc to go into sleep mode.

Hello sir,

I didn't necessarily need to enable QoS when I was on 3 meg, but now that I've downgraded back to 1.5 once again due to financial strain (and since I'm not at home that much anymore), it's critical that I find a way to properly enable QoS. Why? My sister is here on the weekends, and so am I. An example of the connection stress I have to go through is when she's streaming a video from Stage6 or Veoh, I have to undergo lag whether I'm viewing a web page or watching a Youtube video. Sometimes, the lag is ridiculous...and for those who think my DSL is at fault, check out the stats:

ADSL Line State: Up
ADSL Startup Attempts: 1
ADSL Modulation: ADSL2+
ADSL Data Path: Interleave
Datapump Version: DSP, HAL
Downstream Upstream
---------- ----------
SNR Margin: 19.00 26.00 dB
Line Attenuation: 58.50 39.00 dB
Output Power: 20.97 11.83 dB
Errored Seconds: 0 0
Loss of Signal: 0 0
Loss of Frame: 0 0
CRC Errors: 0 0
Data Rate: 1493 249

(On a fast path profile too, mind you; it is not interleaved according to the 11 ms 2nd hop on a tracert)

Anyway, back on QoS, if I could just find a way to limit the bandwidth to my sisters computer or to make my connection the higher priority of the two, I would be fine with just that, because sometimes, I can't even break past 30 kb/sec with her hogging the connection. The question is, how do I go about doing it? emotionless.gif

Anyway...I'm really at a loss here, and I'm assuming this is the screen where I can add QoS profiles. Upon clicking add (or edit), I am transferred to this screen..

This is how I've attempted to setup a QoS profile to prioritize my connection (the inside, network IP address typed above). I'm not sure if it will work or not and I will have no idea until my sister comes over here this weekend. The point is, I just want to be ready and not have to reconfigure and reboot my modem constantly to set up QoS properly.

If anyone, and I mean ANYONE could offer me some insight on properly configuring my router to properly prioritize my connection over hers (even if it's just port 80; I don't care), I would much appreciate it.

I apologize for the rather...lengthy post.

Good Luck
Don't forget to rate the solution
