Regza 5Toshiba) V55 TV - picture tinted red. First the picture went (sound ok), when I got the picture back by fiddling with contrast and colour settings, the picture was red. I've used the 'colour temperature' settings to improve the picture, but the red tint is still there. Any fixes?

The fault is with its video output stage circuit. The fault is called "one color predominant' screen. In most cases, this might be to a loose solder terminals at the video output stage circuit board. This board can be located at the neck of the picture tube, will plugged on to it directly. If you wish to get more details, check this link. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic /Timeslide, can be selected by the drop-down list, by the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name / model number / IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.

SOURCE: 32" Toshiba television Mod. 3357DB

If im not mistaking I remember the toshiba 32" to have an on screen alighnment in the sevice menu.. and I would not recomend that anyone without the proper manual and tools to fool with these adj as I've seen in the past that a set had to be completely redone even the tuner alighnments after someone went in and tryed to adj the set., Now the green tinge you speak of is the CRT getting weak The best way to ajust this would be to see if on the picture tube pc board on the end of the Picture tube if it has any little control on it ? if it does look for the green drive and put on a b&w Picture. slowlty turn down the green drive control untill the pic look almost B&W and you probably wont be able to get perfact grey scale as the crt is weak . If theres no controls on the crt pcb then your gonna need a service alighnment manual and adj the green drive that way. Good Luck

SOURCE: Toshiba 32AF41 Power up Problem and Green Screen

My first inclination would be to check the picture tube, especially if the set is over 7 years old. If it is not that, then anything from bad solder connections to capacitors or a defective IC could be the cause. If it's over 10 years old, replace it. No use flogging a dead horse.

SOURCE: Red tint while using component cables

Disconnect component cable while observing screen, just to make sure that is your problem. If it is and you already substituted the dvd player and it still happens,, try replacing the cable, it may be defective. If it still happens there may be some kind of a processing defect with the component input of your tv, why not just return to RCA's

Contrast really dark but seems to improve after the tv has been on several hours

Hi:
You may have a problem with the inverters in the unit, they are responsible for lighting up the back panel. Check or have checked the power supply voltage to the inverters, should be around 18-24 volts DC. Also leaky capacitors on the power supply will cause this issue as well as leaky or puffy capacitors on the inverter.

I need the picture settings for a trutech tv. For example : number for contrast .

Hello
The picture setting for any TV depends upon the taste of the viewer. Contrast is the deepness of details in black and grey level. In most TVs a 55 to 75% of contrast will give a good picture. you have to adjust the brightness level also according to contrast. It is best ot turn out colour to 0% first. Adjust contrast and brightness to get a well detailed B/W picture first. The apply enough colour to that B/W picture according to your taste. Face colour of a newsreader at studio will be the best reference to intensity of colour.OK.

Spyder2 colorimeter (I know most prefer the Eye-One meters, but the Spyder2 was available from my job at no cost)

Here are the settings:

PS3 Blu-Ray player

Output Format (HDMI): Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr (important!!! NOT RGB output)
BD 1080p 24hz Output (HDMI): On (this TV can reproduce video at 48hz for accurate 2:2 pulldown)
Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super White (HDMI): On (not sure if this matters)

Take time to get used to the settings, you may think the screen looks dull at first. The truth is most people have way too much contrast on their TVs.
These settings will also work for Cable or Dish hookups, in which case you may change the Noise Reduction option to Medium to reduce signal noise.

Colour problem

I have default settings I normally use for most sets before I begin any kind of alingment. Contrast: 90% Brightness: 45% Color: 45% Tint: 50% If the brightness is to high or the contrast to low the color is off. Check your connections, there probably OK, but, it never hurts. If the settings don't help call a local authorized servicer in your area. Hope this helps.

Pic Bleeding

this sympton is characterized by the presence of red, cyan, green, magenta, blue or yellow colour in a supposedly plain white raster. proper colour reproduction cannot be expected if the raster is coloured. this symptom is caused by a poor white balance adjustment of by a trouble in the CRT, colour amplifier, color demodulation or colour output circuits. if the raster has a tint of red or cyan, check the R-Y output circuits and the first grid, second grid and cathode circuits of the red electron gun. but if you dont know anything about this, just bring it to a qualified service technician. good luck!
