The passcode of your WLAN can be set only on your router If you are not the administrator of WLAN router you must ask passcode to network administrator, For an owerview of WLAN priciples check this Tip Let me know if you need further help

2008 OLD OLD PC, most then had no wifi card, so was added
and vast cards made , maker and model not told. at all.
and never worked before right, you added the wifi card did you.?
I can only beg for facts, not told..
history not told at all, just that it is dead, only.
at home are you?
if yes, all other PCs and TV work in wifi or not? this is step #1
lets say line above is YES ! and you know your wifi credentials
SSID, wpa1/2? and passphrase.
NO OS told vast PCs fails upgraded to w10 due to no drives exist fo this PC wifi,
The OS 2008 is XP and VISTa are you the last person on earth running that,?
first connect the PC to your working router, Ethernet jack./
see PC now works on the internet, no wifi needed but must be done to fetch the wifi drivers (easy)
in device manager, we click on the wifi card and it pick update driver. for this (secret) card. The card will never work lacking the right driver there.
if works or fails. if FAILS i bet the card you put there does not run on you unstated OS.
so you waited 14 years to buy and use a wifi card?
lots of pitfalls here even using cards that can never work here.
many PCs have wifi card black lists
and old cards do not run w10
and new cards will not run on XP or vista ever
and more but no card told so can not be specific ever.
no no don't flash the bios , the wlan problem is related to wlan driver go to my computer and then right click , manage then device manager if network adapter has a yellow question mark you will have to reinstall the driver if no you will have to connect manually . control panel, internet options connectionc , lan settings , click on the automatically detect settings close everythng
Go Here and get the driver http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/
(Notebook , Aspire , Aspire 4730Z , Select Windows Xp From Drop Down Menu and then Drivers will show
Reinstall Driver
Restart Computer

Hi,
Please type services.msc on run option
2.Please check there will be a service named as wireless zero configuration if you are using XP otherwise the third last service in vista.
3.double clisck that and then stop after restarting the machine again go to same and start it by clicking start.
4.If then also the issue is not resolved please check with your hardware vender.
1) Verify if Wi-Fi WLAN interface of your notebook is OK. 1a) Check whether HW switch is ON and the wireless system service is running. 1b) Switch on the WLAN Access Point (router) SSID broadcasting. 1c) Scan WLAN networks by the notebook. Can you see your home WLAN? If not, there is HW or SW problem in your wireless adapter probably. If WLAN is visible, continue by next steps.
2) Remove all WLAN security on both sides (AP and notebook): Authentication = none/open, encrytption = none. 3) Activate DHCP server in the router and set the dynamic IP assigning on WLAN notebook interface. 4) Select your home WLAN SSID in the list and try to connect. 5) Wait and check status. Is WLAN connected? Does obtain the notebook an IP address? 6) In success case set the WLAN security.
Try this (assuming you have Windows XP): Start, Control panel, Network Connections, Right click on Wireless Network Connections and choose Enable, Hope this helps, John
