Unable to open dell dimension 8250 cd-rom drive

Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver

You might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd restart your computer then plug them back this should activate the found new hardware wizard

If there is a small hole on the panel of your dvd drive push a straightened paper clip inside until you feel it press down this will open up the drive.

Hope this helps.

Not sound pc dell dimension 8250

  • Verify that the lack of sound is not due to faulty speaker connections. A simple way to test it is to substitute the speaker connection with headphones and see if you get any sound.
  • Open the volume control window by clicking your "Start" button and then "All Programs." Click "Accessories," then "Entertainment," then "Volume Control." Alternatively, just click on the speaker icon that's in your System Tray.
  • Check the volume and mute settings. If any of the mute check boxes have been checked, uncheck them. If this doesn't work, read on.
  • Perform a System Restore If Necessar
  • If the sound has been audible from your computer's speakers and is suddenly lost, you may need to perform a System Restore. Click on the " Start" button and then "All Programs."
  • Click on "Accessories," then "System Tools," then "System Restore."
  • 3 Complete the System Restore Wizard. If this doesn't work, read on.
  • Delete and Reinstall the Original Sound Drivers
  • Deleting and reinstalling your sound driver may resolve the problem. Your sound driver may have been corrupted or may be missing. The result of this is that the restore utility menu won't be available. For Windows XP, follow these steps.
  • Click on your "Start" button. Click on "Control Panel" and then "System." Next, click on "Hardware," then "Device Manager, then "Sound, Video and Game Controllers."
  • Click on a sound device named in the Device Manager, and then press the Delete key on the keyboard. Click "OK" in the window that appears. Remove all the listed sound devices i this way EXCEPT Audio Codec and Legacy Audio Drivers.
  • Restart your computer. Reinstall the deleted drivers using the Driver and Application Recovery CDs that came with your Windows XP system.
  • Visit your computer manufacturer's official website. Check for any updated sound driver software for your sound card. If any, download them along with the installation instructions.

Once Windows is reinstalled on dell computers you have to use resource cd that came with it and reinstall network and sometimes couple other drivers like video or sound. If you dont have the resource cd you will have to get some how to maybe from your friends pc or if you have another one and just download it from there. Go to,click on support then on drivers and software and choose your system and you will find all drivers right there. Hope this helps.

My dell dimension 8250 'Sound Blaster Live' will work for a few minutes, then shuts off. If I wait, it comes back again, etc. What's wrong? Thanks.

Thats your system restarting every small minute then the problem lies on your processor or probably your processor fan that is blowing air to your processor stops working and that can cause it not be ok after a short time it will be over heated and have to cut off and restart again what you will have to do is to change the processor fan or probably add a cooling paste on the processor cooling sink or if that persist change the processor.

The fan settings can be found in the BIOS. On a Dell machine, when you turn the computer on repeatedly hit F2 until you are brought to the BIOS. Search through there until you find something named Acoustics, change the option to run at a lower level. Remember to save the changes before you exit.
