The batteries lose their memory and need to be shocked back to life.. Here's the fix:
"Hi,I just found a soultion on another website and it appears to have worked for me.Apparently the battery loses it memory when fully discharged,to fix this take a 9v battery and place the terminals + to + and - to - with the camera battery for 30 seconds or so then put the battery back in the camera and charge as normal.I just did this and it seems to be charging and the red light is solid.hope this helps."
Hi there, yes its your battery, apparantly there was a fault with the NP-20 battery,i have just e-mailed casio and a new battery is on its way, they just need a few details from you.
Call them, and they will send you a new one withint 2-4 buisiness days.
U should call casio customer support...if it's less than a year old, they will send you a new battery
If you download the full manual from casio web site it will say that the flashing light is a problem- batterty, charger, camera.

My camera will not turn on. It did when I first got it then it just stopped and the lens on the camera is still zoomed outward. When I put it on the charger the camera flashes a green light once but that is all I can get it to do. What is wrong?
I've got the same issue with my Exilim EX-Z5.
I need to charge my bettery seperately but the red LED keeps blinking!
It won't matter how long I charge it.
What could be wrong? Is the battery dead? Can I rebreath it? What could be the case of this problem?
Thanks
I have the same issue! The camera has suddenly stopped turning on and when I put it in the cradle/charger, the "charge" light just flashes orange. I can even get it to turn on momentarily in the cradle, so I'm guessing it's a battery issue. Has anyone discovered whether a new battery will solve the problem?
I have the same problem.
