- Well, I too have the same problem. I open the lens cover to turn it on and immediately get a "Camera Stabilizer is not available" message; and then it turns off. I can't take pictures. I too got the same message from the tech--that I must send it in because it's a lens problem. I want to try to fix it myself. I saw the recommendation to download updated software from the Casio site, but I never registered mine online. Does that mean I can't get the download that might fix it? Funny thing--it bit the dust exactly 2 years from the date I purchased it. I have my original purchase receipt. Do we think it's engineered that way--to only last a year or two? Please help me. the solution worked the same for me as it did likoposa, I used the http://world.casio.com/qv/download/en/ex_v7_firmup/ update and when i open the camera, the error appears, but than it goes away and I can take pics.

WHile I agree that this problem should not occur and I am no longer happy with Casio because of this problem (even though I have an extended warrenty that will cover the problem), if you registered your camera with Casio, you can download the newest firmware and it will partially fix the problem (if you already have the latest firmware, it won't help).

I have the same problem with EX-V7 camera stabilizer but after updating the software the camera began to work, instead of error message.Thank u for advice

I had the same problem (Camera stabilizer is not available) 3 days into my Thailand vacation. The Casio authorized repair centre says the ONLY solution is to return the camera for replacement of the lens assembly. In my case, they did not have the part and instead, gave me a USED replacement camera. Battery door is loose. File names are inconsistent (started at 395 on the USED camera and then it went to somewhere in the 200's and then started filling in starting at 1. Was also producing numerous 'globes' (lens reflections?) on many shots.
Although my original camera was only 6 days old when it died suddenly and inexplicably, Casio continues to refuse to give me a new camera, leaving me with the used, malfunctioning junk. Numerous emails have not helped. Casio is NOT a good choice to buy a camera from. Period. They should have stuck to calculators.

I've the same problem. Of a sudden, whenever the camera is turned on, a "camera stabilizer is not available" message appears for a while and then the camera goes off.

i have the same problem. when i sent it to casio they told me it would cost around $300 some dollars to fix it. i was going to just get a new camera since it would be cheaper but then i found a download from casio.

i followed all the directions but then when it was time to take it of the usb cord and hit the menu button instead of version 1.10 coming up it said version 1.00. maybe you will have better luck with this.

I have had this camera for less than a year, i love this camera. I sent it in to get repaired because it kept giving me stabilization error when i truned it on then it would just shut off. well i got a phone call from them telling me they cannot fix my camera. i am really upset and dont know what to do

If you have image stabilization on screen go to Casio.com and update latest version on firm ware

I had the same problem. Did some searches and found out that a firmware update can solve the issue. Did an update from http://world.casio.com/qv/download/en/ex_v7_firmup/ and I guess I am lucky enough to get the camera running again. But it shows the error message still when the lens cover is opened. I can take photos and do other operations. Donno if the message means anything to the quality of images taken.

Same thing all week long. I can view photos on the card, but no other functions are available to me. I haven's found a solution yet
