    1. Labelwriter will not communicate with computer. After refilling lablels the printer stalled and would not print. Attempts to restart print jobs failed. Unpluging the printer and rebooting did not help at all. Printer believes it is out of paper even though it has plenty.

I rebooted my computor and now my printer wont work i dont have the download disc that it came with so when i try to print it says error 20 not activated

I have a DCP-7040 laser printer. The PC has xp windows. I have had the printer for about 6 months and it has been working fine. Today, I changed the toner cartridge and can not get it to print. There is an error message that I can't print and gives me troubleshooting procedures, but they don't work as advertised. Thank you

Printer will not communicate with the computer


1. Walk over to the printer and print a test page directly. The procedure for printing a test page will vary from model to model, so you may need to consult the user guide that came with your printer. For most network printers, you can print a test page by navigating the "Information" menu on the control panel and choosing "Print Configuration" from the menu. For many desktop printers, you can print a test page by holding the power button until the page begins to print. If you can print a test page from the printer, but not from the computer, you know there is a communication problem between the printer and the PC.


2. Remove the printer cable from the back of your printer and the back of your computer. After the cable has been removed, carefully put the cable back into place, making sure that the printer cable is tight. If your printer uses a parallel cable, be sure that it is fully seated on the back of the printer and on the computer. If you are using a USB cable for your printer, be sure that the tab is fully seated in the computer, and that the square end of the cable is firmly connected to the printer.


3. Power down the printer, the restart your computer. Click on the "Start" button and choose "Control Panel" from the menu. Double-click the "Printers and Faxes" icon, locate your printer, right-click on it and choose "Properties" from the menu. Click on the "Print Test Page" button to send a test page to your printer.


4. Look at the network card on your network printer to see if there is good communication between the printer and the network. You should see a flashing green light on the network card. If there is no light--or if the light is amber or red--the communication is not happening. To test the network communication, remove the network cable from both the network cable and the network port on the wall, then reseat the cable and check the communication again. If the problem remains, you will need to remove and replace the printer's network card.

Not communicating with computer


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Hi - my x4550 lexmark printer wont print, can you help?


If your printer won't print when you're making a copy using the Copy button on the operator panel, it could be due to your ink cartridges. Try to re-seat your ink cartridges into the printer and make sure they are properly seated.
If you're not able to print from your computer, it could be a communication problem. A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if usb-connected), reboot your computer and unplug/replug the printer into the power source to reset it. My Lexmark Platinum PRO905 does ot print it gives me the message " Communication Not Available, The Printer cannot communicate with the computer"

Printer wont comunicate with Computer


Try to unplug your printer from your computer. Unplug and replug your printer into the power source to reset itself. When your printer turns on completely, reconnect to your computer. Try to print again. If problem continues, you may refer to these articles in the Lexmark website:

Epson nx400: prints test page; doesn't print other things


If it prints a test page from the printer and not from the computer, then the issue is with the communications from computer to printer. If it is a net work printer, go to the c prompt and to a ip address ping and see if there is any communications.

It could be just a slight communication issue. Try to unplug your printer from your computer. Then unplug the printer from the power source. Replug after 10 seconds.
