Question about Panasonic TH-42PD25U/P 42 in. Plasma EDTV

1 Answer

No analog channels

I have a 2 year old Plasma tv and the analog channels stopped working. I get sound but no video. The HDMI interface and the PC interface work fine. Panasonic told me that I should try to get the eprom reset. No one in my area seems to know how to do this or as in a previous post, someone suggested that the data from the software chip was removed and then re-installed. I have called about 5 different repair shops and all of them don't seem to know how to do this. Can someone tell me how this can be done? The only other option is to replace the board and that is close to $900 on this set.

Thanks. The new part number for this part is TNPEEPJIGS. It is the same part. I just ordered it from Panasonic. Let's see if this works. I will post another reply to this forum if the new part works out.

How to get video from dvd to tv

Use HDMI wire if you have that option than simply tune TV to HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 etc depending which one you connect it to .
OR. analog ( R C A ) cables analog. Output from DVD player to imput tv """ red is right white. Is left sound. Yellow is video pay attention to where you are plugging on TV.video 1 or 2 or 3 Since you will have to go to ( video. Or imput ) on your TV to access the DVD player. Another words your cable box is a TV imput . You're doing is also a TV imput You have to tune it to be able to watch it

Got a svga/hdmi cord and hooked up for my panasonic viera plasma to my computer but nothing shows on my component 2. also wondering if i'll need a cord for audio - i have double red/white/yellow...

You probably would need the extra audio cords seeings as normal svga connection won't suppost sound streaming. mixing and matching connections is always a pain to perfect.
If you are using the HDMI end on your plasma, then you will have the video show up on the HDMI channel. Then get an RCA red and white pair - 3.5mm jack and plug the jack into your PC's audio connection port and the RCA's into the Audio In ports in the back of the TV.
Once done the TV should display video and play sound from the PC. Failing this, try a few different configuration but always keep the audio plugged into the same Audio in port on the TV. Bacause then you at least know the channel that the audio works on ;D
Hope this helps mate, any more q's just ask!

HDMI is digital and uncompressed signal while the above mentioned interfaces are analog. A digital source is translated into less precise analog signal in an analog interface. After that signal is sent to the television and then converted back into digital signal to display on screen. Due to this, some distortion of picture quality is caused at each translation. HDMI removes the analog conversion and preserves original signal and delivers richest, sharpest picture. Separate audio signals are required by other video interfaces. Due to large amount of bandwidth available in HDMI, it not only transmits video but audio channels up to eight digital audio channels can also be transmitted through HDMI. The entire process becomes simple because a number of wires are replaced by a single wire. It also delivers much better performance.
The HDMI “Type B” have 29 wires while standard HDMI or “Type A” has 19 wires. Motion picture industry and other professional applications use “Type B” HDMI wires. HDMI enabled components talk to each other via an interface that is why it is also called Intelligent HDMI. All-in-one functionality of remote and other interoperable features are provided by HDMI but not by other technologies.
High-Definition and enhanced video and other standard formats are supported by HDMI. Backward compatibility with DVI (Digital Video Interface) is also supported. DVI/HDMI cable can be used to connect HDMI interface in high-end graphic cards that have DVI port. DVI/HDMI cable has HDMI connector at one end and DVI connector at the other. Another point to note is that degradation of signal can occur if the length of the HDMI cable exceeds 5 meters (15 feet).
At least one HDMI interface was provided in many high-end televisions since 2005. Two HDMI interfaces provides more flexibility and three might be better in cases where one wants to connect a game console. As the TV industry installs HDMI interfaces into more peripheral components, multiple interfaces will become common on TVs.

It is good to have it.

Please rate me if this solution works for you

Thanks......Have a great time.

Normally this problem is simply a matter of selecting the correct default audio playback device in the Windows control panel (sound option).

Hi. You could look up reviews. I personally usually never offer advice on choices, because what I like, may not be what you like..its a matter of personal preference. But in this particular case, I'd go for Panasonic. Why? Better features, better service, easier availability of parts, and better resolution.Plus some nice features. If this answers your question, PLEASE don't forget to rate as fixed. I'd really appreciate it. Enjoy your new tube!!!
