Heats up excessively, quickly and too hot

I have a Black & Decker TRO420 Toast-R-Oven-- it heats up extremely fast, and it reaches a higher temperature than the one the dial is turned to, so everything ends up charred. What could be wrong with it internally?

Sounds like a bad thermostat. A hassle to fix and/or replace . If you have had it for a while...try a complete cleaning...if less than a year, its warrantied...take it back.
