Re: Gigabyte GA-81EXW memory chips

Any 184-pin ddr ram should work on this. You can actually use pc3200 (ddr 400) ram as well. Pc2700 ram is ddr333, and a higher speed ddr ram like pc3200 will work just as well if not better than pc2700, it will simply go down to the speed that the processor requests the ram run at. It's all backwards compatible, faster ram can run slower if the computer needs it to run at the slower speed. Depending on the price you can find as long as you get 184 pin ddr ram either pc2700 or pc3200 with work fine with your motherboard. Peter

Flashed the wrong bios on GA-MA785GMT-UD2H board. Gigabyte told me to short out pins 4 and 7 on the M-bios chip to force the B-bios chip to reflash the M chip. Did this but the PC still won't reboot.

Try taking out the CMOS battery, it looks like a big watch battery. Leave it out for about 5 mins. and put it back in, This should clear CMOS and return it to factory settings. Hope this helps..

Can i use a ddr2 400mhz ram on a GA8ipe1000 motherboard?

According to the Gigabyte website

that motherboard only has DDR slots (4 of them), so, no you cannot use DDR2 RAM modules.
If you do manage to make it fit, the pins won't line up because DDR can be 184pin or 200pin, and DDR2 can be 214-pin, 240-pin, 244-pin.
Since your memory slots or only DDR, there is no way that the DDR2 would make the connections that it would need to make in order for it to work.
I hope this helps! If not, please comment back and let us know!

Gigabyte GA-8IGX Motherboard memory upgrade

If you bay DDR 400 it will slow itself down to 266 automatically. I've seen a very few cases where it didn't work because of voltage differences but that is very rare and usually with really cheap OEM motherboards, your Gigabyte should be safe.
