Make sure lamp cover is also fixed on tv cabinet after lamp installation.
If lamp cover has not been put on its place, tv wont turn On due to safety switch inside that place that gets press with lamp cover.

Please make sure lamp cover is reinstalled securely after replacement of lamp in TV.
If lamp cover is not fixed properly, TV wont power up and red light will start blinking.

Look at the fan and verify its comming from the fan and not the power supply unit, you can clean the fan or replace it, but yes the fan would be likly the problem. Make sure you double check the power supply unit and clean if its needed,

Start by checking the lamp, there's no sure fire way to tell if its the lamp or not.Remove the lamp housing door off the back right side of the tv (if you are looking at the back of the tv, it has one black screw holding it in place. Look inside and you'll see the black and silver metal housing. Then loosen the gold screws on each side of the lamp housing. You'll know you're looking at the right thing because there is a black handle that lets you pull the housing straight out (after loosening the screws, the screws wont come completely out). Take into account the amount of time it has been since you replaced the lamp, 3-4 years seems to be about average. You won't really be able to tell if the lamp is burned out or not by looking at it. Sometimes there is a break in the glass tube inside the bowl, sometimes its a white powder in the small bulb at the bottom of the glass tube. Either way, use the stickers on the housing to get your lamp number and order a bulb. Rivervalleyelectronics.net is a great place to look. I use them all the time. Did you replace the lamp cover after replacing the lamp? Make sure the cover is properly installed.

Check this website to find a replacement lamp for your TV. You will need to use the housing from the defective lamp.

You likely have a bad lamp. It could also be a bad lamp driver, but I'm betting a lamp change will solve your problem. Buy an original Sony lamp only; the aftermarket replacements are cheaper but you get what you pay for and they can cause problems. Please be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!
