Muffled faint sound and flickering screen on Insignia NS-32LCD

Woke up today to find the screen flickering, and the sound is extremely faint and muffled. When it powers up there is a quick crackle sound then picture comes on with the flicker and the sound is pretty much worthless. This happens on all inputs, which we only have the cable box and xbox 360 attached right now. Obviously we've tried unplugging and restarting to no avail. I'm comfortable opening it up and looking around, but would like to know what I should be looking at before I take that step. A tech is scheduled to come in 12 days. (Which of course seems like an eternity since it's our only TV). Hope someone here might be able to help or at least give me options to know about with the service call since it's not under warranty. Or not under warranty that I can prove according to BB... Thanks for any assistance!

My parents television is having the same exact problem. The screen is flickering and there is basically no sound coming from it. You have to be right on top of it to hear it. All of this a couple of months past the warranty.

One day, our 1 1/2 year old tv started flickering and there was no sound. After a few seconds, it would stop and the tv would work like nothing ever happened. As the days went by, the flickering and no sound lasted much longer. It's now been about 1 month and it lasts about 2-3 minutes now. This usually happens only if the tv is off for a while (overnight or when I come home from work). I thought that maybe the xbox started the problem because when you turn of the console the screen flickers so I've made sure to turn off the tv before i turn off the console. that didn't help. the flickering happens on all inputs. I was wondering how this could be fixed and about how much would it cost (my warranty expired).

Use an AXE to detach it. It is the only way to detach the base of this TV.

My ns-lcd42hd09 insignia tv only displays the right side of the screen clearly until the tv is on for about an hour then it will display both sides correctly. Today it never cleared up, stays really dark...

Having same problem. Smacking it or applying pressure often works. Extremely annoying (inconvenient) that a nearly $1000 machine breaks down very soon after one year ( how long the warranty is, of course)

I have a insignia ns-32lcd and all I get is thin lines going up and down the screen. What is the problem?

For those capable of board level repair, on my 32LCD the T-con board had a defective voltage regulator. This is the board under the shield connects to the two ribbon cables to the screen. This parts is located on the left side looking from the bottom of the set. It is marked 1117-2.5s it is a 2.5 volt regulator.
On my set it was supplying 1.0 volts. I replaced it with a series pass transistor
regulator used a MPS2712, set for 2.5 Volts now work perfect

I have an insignia NS-32LCD and it will not turn on

Capacitors are probably bulged in the power supply. Need replaced, not expensive.

How to remove the back from Insignia NS-32LCD?

I unscrewed all the screws in the back, detached the tv from the base, and was able to get the back off. I ordered a new power supply board and will install it to see if it fixes the problem with the tv (won't turn on, insignia light alternates between red and blue). I didn't notice any problems with "swollen" capacitors, so if the new power board fixes the problem I'll update this website.
