Question about HP Pavilion dv8230us Notebook

Wireless internet My HP Pavilion dv6000 has wireless built in as i'm sure you are aware. Having never had a problem with it before, today i left the computer for a matter of minutes. When I returned, the wireless seems to have vanished from my computer, it does not appear in the Network Connections or in the wireless tray icon which now only details the bluetooth application. I've searched thru the computers troubleshooting but can find nothing. I only use wireless so need to fix this, any help is much appreciated.

i have a v6000compaq laptop. i have owned it one year. about 3-4 weeks ago the wireless icon in in the lower right hand corner, and it is not in the hardware list either. the card is still in place. we can still connect to the internet via hardwire but we want our wireless back!

have tried installing drivers and tried the "stop start" on wireless configuration. tried going to network adapters to find wireless internet and it was not even there. we also bought a PC restoration from office max. that did not work either. very discouraged. no one seems to know where our wireless has gone :(

    any suggestions would be grateful.

Hi. i posted a problem from kirbychic on 12-18 concerning my hp v6000 compaq laptop. my wireless disappeared one day. tried all the suggestions folks sent me. nothing established wireless. well, tonite went to get online(connected to hardwire) and my blue wireless light was on and my wireless icon was in the lower right hand of my screen! i went to my computer, internet connections, established a wireless connection. how this suddenly started working after not working since october is beyond me. hope it keeps working. i think this must be a hp problem. but for now its working :) thanks for everybodys suggestions. happy new year.

This is a manufacturer trouble
in few weeks you will see the blank screen and 1 long beep and 2 short at startup. then you will go to replace the mainboard at service center if you are covered by warranty. i have the same problem and not just me. I had not find the solution and i can't go to the service-center .......... :-(

You might want to check the device manager in the system under control panel. Check if the wireless network card is installed. If it is then simply try restarting your computer, if not try to do some sort of system restore. cheers!

Cannot connect to wireless internet

First, do you have a wireless router button that enables or disables wireless internet? If so than it might have got accidently turned off. push it and see what pops up on screen. If it says enabled than it was turned of try connecting to internet again. If it says disabled than push again until it says enabled clearly that wasn't the problem. Next try going down to the two computers (right hand bottom corner) then double click them. This will bring up a wireless networks available, try refreshing this page. After refreshed if no networks are available than it may have to do with your internet provider. Try calling them to get a better detailed explanation.

I need to know where the wireless switch is on an HP Pavilion ZV5410US laptop computer

Most HP Notebook PCs have wireless devices built-in. To turn on the built-in device, simply press the wireless power button on your PC which will have the universal symbol for Wi-Fi (shown here on the left) and illuminate with a blue light.

Wireless network card

Hi there.
The wireless switch on the front bottom of the laptop, it's suppose to be blue when the button is on the right.
Right click on computer and select manage, go to device manager, and go to Network Adapters, try to see a network adapter called Broadcom, if it doesn't appear, it means that your computer doesn't recognize the wireless card and you may have to reinstall the drivers.
Please let me know how you get on.

Good luck

Wireless adapter is not working.

Go to the HP website and get the latest version of the driver for the wireless adapter. Then got to Start---->Control Panel--->Add/Remove programs and unistall the current driver. Then got to the System folder in the Control Panel. Go to the device manager tab and go down the list until you find network adapters. Left click the x beside the name and left click on the wireless and it should turn blue. Right click and choose uninstall. Then reboot the computer. If the device is still working the computer should find the "new hardware" as windows loads. Then when it asks for the device use the new driver to install it.

Hp pavilion dv6000

I have an HP Pavillion dv9000, but they are similar.

Now if you are moving the Wireless switch on and off and the light stays red on both sides you probably have a dud of a wireless card. I had the same issue with mine at one point, what I did was get a hold of tech support, they mailed me a box with a prepaid shipping label to send them my laptop. They put in a new wireless card and shipped it back for free(of course it was still under warranty).

If you recently purchased this laptop you can usually log onto, go to the support section and do the chat with an HP tech or call 800-HP invent or 800-474-6836 24/7 and they will walk you thru the whole process.

But again just from your description, you have a dead air card. Call or online hp and have them fix it for you, especially if its still under warranty. If its not under warranty, then hit me back and i can give you a step by step on how to open up the laptop yourself and replace the card
