I've had the phone for about 2 years, but i switched phones so I haven't used it very much. i had some pictures on it that I had to transfer over and was going to send to my email, and last thursday, i turned it on, but i had forgotten my other phone to put the sim card in it. i left it charging, turned off, and then yesterday when I tried to turn it on it doesn't do anything.

Do you know why it won't turn on even if it's plugged in? Is it because of the burned out batteries?

    Thank you for your help.

I bought a new battery, plugged it in overnight, and the phone still won't turn on.

How long have you owned your cell phone for? Also, did it act strange before it died on you? Let me know so we can get to the bottom of this. Thanks & good luck!

    Ah....Now it all comes together.

I've ran into this same issue. It's actually not good to leave your cell phone plugged into the charger that long. It can actually burn out a battery specially older batteries.

I've been advised on a cell phone of mine, recently, that its good to change the batteries if they seem to have a low rate of staying on during usage then normal. 2 yrs is pretty good to get out of a cell phone even with not using it that often, however, it's best to use the battery until its dead then recharge it for only a little while (until its fully charged) that way it keeps up the endurance of your cell phone.

Try to get a replacement battery from the provider. That should do the trick. If you have insurance on your phone through your provider you can most likely access one through them in order to complete the situation. Otherwise you can pick them up at the store for pretty cheap or even ebay you can find some somewhat legit people who could probly get a good deal from...

let me know how that works out. Thanks for your prompt comment! :)

p.s. you can also get a cheap "disposable battery" for your select cell phones. You can find them anywhere..even at airports!

Incase you want to transfer that information and incase you dont really want to invest in the cell phone you really dont use that much..or probly will never again...

Correct, just like any battery it can run out of time. I've had a phone burn out that way a few years ago. the battery was just a year old.

A disposable battery typically can range a few dollars on up. Depending how "long" you want your disposable battery to last for...

I had a similar problem with my SMT5600. I've found that when this happens, if I just hold the hangup key until the keypad locks, I can then unlock the phone and it will function normally. Try this to see if it helps.

Take care,

Audiovox smartphone stuck in Flight Mode

You can Hard Reset the phone by either of two methods. Start/Settings/Clear Memory, or power on while holding both left and right softkeys down.

This resets and reloads the phone software system its ROM and you will lose any and all personal data and apps you put on it since receiving it. Back up all you can before hard resetting.

Computer won't sync with audiovox smt 5600

You must install ActiveSync software on an Win XP OS available with disk supplied with phone or on MicroSoft support page.

If you are using Win Vista OS, then download latest Mobile Center software while you phone is plugged into USB port.

Phone must be recognized by OS for phone to charge. Nice Audiovox/Microsoft desigh heh? Some times you just want to get designs by the throat and squeeze them.

If phone was on ATT/Cingular originally, then you can buy UnLock code off ebay or net. If it is an older old BLUE ATT network, then the phone must be unlocked my using downloadable software you can use youself with an XP or earlier PC with an USB port. I don't know of any one selling unlock codes, based on phones IEMI code, that would work. Or at least get a guarantee if someone offers you this. If it is an ATT/Cingula or T-Mobile phone, then it can be unlocked using a code sent you base on IEMI number.

Google phones model and UNLOCK to find free downloadable software. This will also work on any HTC Typhoon phone, which the Audiovox SMT5600 is just one of many carriers that sold it.

SMT 5600 does not load OS, screen goes white and then blank.

Screen sound bad, or intermittent connection inside. You can find disassembly instructions on the net. Search with phone model and disassemble. Remove and reattach all cables in case one is lose or contact dirty.

Audiovox smt5600 blinks amber light upon plugging in charger and wont charge and the (!)icon appears on the screen whichi n the manual means that the battery is either at too high or too low of operating...

Start with another battery. Borrow a friends or they are available on Ebay rather cheap. Or, go to your Cell Carrier and ask them to help you try another battery.

Have you tried charging it through the USB port of you computer? The phone is designed to charge from a USB port also, but computer must have ActiveSyn phone driver install and be recoginzed by the computer in order to charge using USB port.

Audiovox SMT5600

Get an ATT/Cingular network SIM card for $6. It is a pay-as-you-GO phone SIM, but you can have ATT xfer your number to it and also make order a standard monthly contract plan for it.

If it is really an older ATT nework BLUE phone, then the new ATT Cingular network does not support it. It must be network unlocked to use on ANY carrier.

You can google the phone model and UNLOCK to get free unlock software you can use yourself on an XP PC . Software won;t run on VISTA.
