Question about Dryers

No Heat on Whirlpool Gas Dryer

Model: LGR4634JQ0 The gas dryer no longer generates any heat. The motor will turn the drum. The timer is somehow affected, because if the dryer is turned on and left alone, it will tumble indefinitely.

Our Whirlpool Model LGR4634JQ0 will not heat up. I took the peep hole cover off and watched as I turned the gas dryer on (high heat). The chamber heats up and glows bright orange for maybe 15-20 seconds...

You're a good detective! Gas dryers have an ignition panel (what you saw glowing bright orange) that heats until it reaches a certain temperature. This temperature will cause the gas from the pilot to ignite and the dryer will run, staying at a constant temperature and thereby drying your clothes. It sounds as it your ignition panel needs to be replaced. It is a relatively simple process if you are comfortable making repairs. If you aren't, I suggest calling a repair professional. We did this a num ber of years ago. The repair service was reasonably priced and our dryer worked for another 6 years!
Good luck. If this works, please return to Fixya and rate my advice!

Hello,

The gas coils have failed. These are the two round devices on the gas valve. You would need to open the dryer to access and replace the gas valves. Every make and model is different.

With the model number I would be able to better assist you.

We have an LGR4634JQ0 gas dryer. The dryer won't

Sounds like the coils (both come in 1 pkg ) at least 1 is open . The ignitor glows causing the radiant sensor to open which in turn opens the solenoids which lets the burner lite . OR a BIG OR the thermal fuse (slim white piece with 2 wires attached ) could be bad , This piece is on the blower box . This is probably your problem . Pt # 3392519

My gas whirlpool dryer won't heat. Cool air does

Hi

Things that could stop a gas dryer from heating:
- glow bar igniter, thermal fuse ( not all models ), coils on the gas valve, gas valve, thermostats, motor heat switch, timer, selector switch, sensor.

Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
