Laptop internal speakers stopped working...

Just yesterday I clicked on the mute button. Now I can't get the internal speakers to come on at all. I did try to troubleshoot in the 'sound' folder...but I really don't know what I did. This happened once before and I don't remember what I did to get them to work again.

A Thousands Thanks!

Update your sound card drivers. Go to windows update in the start tab and a system update will fix it!

How can i on its speaker

How old is this laptop? Have you tried the mute button (software or hardware)? Have you tried holding the shift key while pressing the mute/volume up/down buttons?

Are these internal or external speakers? If external, are they plugged in to a power source (or connected via USB)? Have you looked for power and volume switches on the speakers?

My internal speakers for my Acer Aspire have suddenly stopped working. However, when I plug in my external speakers, there is not problem. Please advise. Thanks

Go into the speaker icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and click on it and get to the mixer. In there make sure the speakers aren't muted.

If it is muted then click on it to unmute it and you should have your sound back.

If you don't have your sound back then that means either the speakers are bad or because the internal speakers hook up to the motherboard, the mohterboard could be bad.

My Dell Inspiron 6000 stopped playing sound. I uninstalled and reinstalled SigmaTel driver. This did not work.

Does it show that the device is working properly in the device manager? You could try and use system restore to roll back windows to a time when the sound was working. Windows may have updated software and caused problem with audio. If you roll back the system to a time when you know the sound was working then the on board audio may be defective. Have you tried plugging in headphones in the headphone jack and check if there is sound? Are the sound properties muted? The laptop speakers or internal amp may have stopped working also.

Hp dv71245dx cannot remove from muted state.

hi
Go to Control panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Volume. Check that Device Volume is at least halfway across the slider and that Mute is unchecked. Go to Advanced and make sure that nothing is mute. Go to Speaker Volume and set the sliders at least halfway across the slider. Go to Advanced, and in Speakers setup choose Laptop Stereo Speakers (if that's what you have). Go to Performance and choose Restore Defaults. Click Apply > OK

plz do inform if this has sorted out the problem
all the best

Radio speakers seem to be muted. I pushed INFO button, did this cause something to mute ??

Some radios have phone buttons that mute the speakers so you can talk on the phone. If you have Onstar and no active subscription it can also mute the radio thinking you are trying to talk to Onstar.

New laptop

I had this problem too. My built in mic wasnt working, but i went to the list of programs (Classic view of the start menu) and under the program folder TOSHIBA > Speech System it'll have a choice "Configure Microphone." After I went through that, it worked fine. Make sure you restart your webcam software though after you've done that if you had it open like me. Hope this works!
