Buring CDs I recorded my voice onto my computer, and I want to put that recording onto a CD. How do I do this. I can play the recording on the computer right now, but can't seem to get it on a CD to play else where. I am using a Toshiba laptop, and CD-R cds. Any thoughts/suggestions?

I have an acer windows vista basic desktop computer. when I first got it the cd/dvd was working and some how I can't play any cds now. i can watch a movie but i can't listen to music from a cd....

Please and make sure that the cd itself is not suffering from any defect such as scratches since that is normally the issue when it freezes.
What player are you using? Are you using VLC?
Windows player can sometimes refuse to play certain files when the codecs are not installed.
Do let me know what happens next.

I am listening to a evangel preacher on the web, i would like to download the sermons to a cd, how would i do this?

This is being streamed to your computer. I would check the site to see if they have the sermons available for download. If not, you can record them realtime. This means you will need to actually have the whole sermon play on your computer to save it, and you will need some software to record the stream. Fortunately for you, there is an excellent free program that does this called audacity. You can download it here:

It's available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Just install the program, push the big red record button, then save the sermon as a wav file, import it into windows media player, or iTunes, or whatever media player came with your linux distribution, and burn to cd.

How do I record onto a 8x dvd rather than a16x

if you are yousing a DVD recording software like Nero or some then in the settings just before the burn yu can find optins generally on the left you have to expand on te menu by clicking on the button and you can change the speed of writing the DVDs...

though to my understanding if the empty DVD-Rs are 8x then the speed of writing the DVDs is automatically calibarated at 8X but well you have the solution even the other case now

if you need any further assistance you can mail me

My cd rom drive on my emachines wont burn any audio cds but it plays audio cds. when i go to burn a cd it says connect a burner. but my burner is built in to the drive that plays the cds

Could be a missing driver file. Or the plug between the 2 could be undone internally. Or the "Properties" settings could be unchecked.

I had this same problem w/ mine. Took me 4 months to figure it out. Got it working again but couldnt play audio cds, only dvds.

Go under control panel to hardware & find out exactly the name of the maker of the drive. It should be in there.
Search that maker ie ~ Philips CD Rom with Sonic DLA burning software.

I got pretty lucky finding info specifically for EMachine. It's a generic computer so shouldnt have any problem finding info about the drive & the software. Perhaps even look for Updates. This could help also.

Sound card won't work with external input

Are you trying to record and listen at the same time? It doesn't usually work that way, the computer has to process and encode the audio signals before they can be listened to. Once you restore the computer, are you able to listen to the recording? If you have onboard sound, rather than a separate sound card, all the audio processing is done by your CPU. If you are trying to listen to the audio as it is being recorded, you are probably overloading the capabilities of the device and its shutting itself down. Try to record without listening. Also make sure you have the latest drivers. If it is onboard audio, check the manufacturer's website for updates. If you know that it is Realtek AC 97 (probably says so your manual), you can download new drivers from the Realtek website.
