Question about Olympus D-565 Zoom Digital Camera

Open Question

Olympus D 565 digital camera

Both lights in viewfinder started blinking indicating no, or low power. Replaced rechargeable batteries and still got the same. Camera would not open and could not view pictures already taken. Hooked up an AC adaptor to power camera and still get the blinking lights. Any hope for this camera?

SOURCE: AC Adapter Question

Check the polarity. Having a 5060 (fabulous camera in my opinion) I chose to buy a couple of extra batteries rather than go the adapter route. They are cheap at eBay, Tiger Direct and other places (I don't know what's available to you in Spain) , and give you added backup for a heavy day or two of shooting.

Are you sure you finalized the firmware upgrade procedure according to the instructions? This sounds a little like you pulled the plug a little too soon... Have you done it according to these instructions: And kept the camera connected until the update was 100 % complete? If you did everything right, try reseting the camera - take the batteries out for the day, and see if it helps. if you're back to step one(the reason you did the upgrade), try the firmware upgrade again. If still it doesn't work contact olympus, and I hope you have a valid warranty. Good luck

SOURCE: broken camera

It is likely that your lens assembly was knocked out of alignment when you dropped the camera. When things do not line up inside the lens the whole unit cannot move in and out. This malfunction requires disassembly to fix, so you will have to get it to a professional for repair. There are providers online who can repair your camera, and also check with your manufacturer to see if they can service the camera at a reasonable rate. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

SOURCE: Batteries fail in very short time

I had the same problem but I fixed it by buying 2 rechargable CRV3 batteries and the charger. At the time such batteries were not common, so although I got a brand that I never heard of (CTA) and they have been great, They last a long time and power is no longer an issue.

SOURCE: Olympus E410 viewfinder problem

As far as I am aware, you can use the viewfinder OR the live view, but not both at the same time.

This is because a mirror has to flip up out of the way to reveal the sensor for the live view to work, and the mirror needs to be in the down position to reflect the image into the viewfinder.

Switch between the two modes and double-check if there is a problem.

Also try removing the lens from the camera and checking the position of the mirror. It could be that it has got stuck in the up osition.

Hope this helps!

I go to charge the battery and it looks like it charges for a while then the charger red light starts blinking. I put the battery back in the camera and the battery is still flat. Not sure what's wrong?...

The blinking light on the charger indicates that the battery needs to be replaced and will not charge. You can buy a replacement lithium battery online at sites like Amazon for less than $10.

Problems with camera

Hi everyone,

I found you because 10 minutes ago, my camera exhibited the same behavior as all yours. All of a sudden, the red and green lights started blinking on and off and nothing worked. I just tried switching batteries and the camera is working! I am using a couple of RCR-V3 Li-ion rechargeable batteries, which I purchased on Ebay three months ago. Thought I'd pass it on.

Take care,

Olympus Camedia C-2020 Zoom - always reads low battery and then "dies"

Safe way - Try using brand new and fully charged NiMh.

Not for novice - Battery contact points may need cleaning. Use contact cleaner with a cotton swab.

Do not try - Spraying contact cleaner or WD-40 in battery compartment.

Last option - Service center.

The battery life on alkaline batteries vary according to manufacturer and power rating. Alkaline Batteries can provide up to 100 shots with typical usage. The Olympus CR-V3 long-life lithium batteries (LB-01) will provide approximately 500 shots. The Olympus Ni-MH batteries (B-01 4PE) would provide approximately 250 shots per charge and they can be recharged 300 to 500 times.

When batteries are low and they are not used for a period of time, they can build up enough voltage to give a full battery indication. The batteries only had enough power to shoot one image. The batteries are exhausted and need to be replaced or recharged.
