PPT 2000 Slide Master

I am reformating a ppt someone in my office created. There are two slide masters: a default design and a custom design. How do I alternate between the two designs? All the solutions I have found are specific to XP, 2003, or 2007 but I have 2000. The ppt help option and online chats have offered no assistance. Please advise.

Re: PPT 2000 Slide Master

In a single PowerPoint presentation, there is only one Slide Master. You need to select: 'Edit' then 'Master' and then 'Slide Master' to view and edit the overall style of the presentation. You have to be careful when re-sizing or changing the text style of the Master Slide, because re-sizing will occur, which may make your text overun pictures or edges of the slides. Go through each slide carefully to make sure that your slides look the way you want them to after making edits to the Master Slide styles.

How do I fix corrupt power point file?

If Insert ' Slides from File doesn't work and Open Office's Impress doesn't work, then the file is kaput. Start looking for your backup or in your email "sent" folder (if you emailed it ?at any point, that is). This program works well. I hope it will help you.

Message in Powerpoint: Part of the file is missing. How to fix it?

your powerpoint file seems to be severely corrupted. You may try to open this file in PowerPoint Fix Toolbox

If if it useless follow the steps 1) Open a new presentation and use Insert --> Slides --> From existing presentation to pull in the slides from the corrupted file. This works about 50% of the time.
2) Try using the Clone Me add-in from Microsoft. It may work, it may not.

How can i convert my pptx file to word cause it can't be opeened

PPTX is Powerpoint 2007 format. Microsoft has a free viewer for that version if you dont have Office at all, available at You will only be able to view, not edit the document using this viewer.

As an alternative, if you have the 2003 Office suite, you can download the compatibility pack which will allow you to open .pptx files in Powerpoint 2003, .docx in Word 2003, etc. That download is located at

Powerpoint 2003 needed, not ppt viewer

Unfortunately, you are going to need to purchase Power Point 2003.

You can still purchase Power Point 2003 from a number of sites like

Adding music to a powerpoint presentation

Does the music file play when you click on it? (Drag the sound icon someplace visible on your slide and preview it.)

If it does play when you click on it, you just need to animate the music. The sound file has to be a part of your slide animation--that's what tells it when to start/stop playing. When you insert a sound file, PPT may ask you whether you want it to start automatically or wait to be clicked.

Or, you can right-click an existing sound file and go CUSTOM ANIMATION. Depending on your version of PPT, what happens next will be different. But you should be able to set the sound file to play when the slide displays without being clicked.
