this happened to me in my truck (sounds as if your talking in a tunnel) what it turned out to be was i did not set up my phone on bluetooth properly (mute interal microphone on bluetooth) but i first noticed a sort of fix for this as i put my phone inside my lunchbox oneday and the echo went away on next call , but after looking into it i saw the mute function on phone bluetooth set-up
Did the location change, a Echo from a wall or vibration from the table. It is a one way sound, someone talks and you hear. As soon as you talk it cuts out the speaker even if they are still talking and it transmitts what you say. So any noise in the room could trigger the the transmit mode even an echo from the sound being turned up too loud. The mike is on the bottom of the base and can pick up table vibration and send it into transmit mode. So the person talking cuts in and out.
Each party needs to keep their earpiece (listening) volume at the minimum level that is audible to reduce chance of feedback.
Also, look to see if there is an encryption on/off option on the phone...this could be causing an echo in either state due to interference...try switching encryption on/off.
Also, check your update options on the phone, you didn't say which kind of phone it is but some can get firmware updates that may be needed for bluetooth to work well.
Finally, you may get results by deleting the device on the phone and re-adding it thru discovery.
just wondering probably the one ur speaking to on the other side of the line is set on hands-free/speaker mode that's why it seems that ur hearing ur own voice or something. try also lowering ur own phone's volume level a bit.
