Olevia LT37HVS HDTV LCD: pulsing screen

Suddenly one evening the screen of my 37" Olevia began pulsing like a laser at a late 60s rock concert. It does this even when disconnected from all electronic signlas such as DVD players, cable box, whatever. Is this fixable? Is it going to be expensive? Is the unit history?

    same problem, pulsing screen. Fixable?

  • hype4bid Nov 16, 2007

    I have the same problem.
Owned my TV for about 15 months and suddenly, the screen turned blue and
a loud static-y noise and I’m unable to turn the tv off unless I unplug the
power cord. The TV would work for about
5 minutes and the loud sound will come back and my screen would turn blue
again. Contacted Olevia via their website
    and have not heard back.

My olevia LT37HVS started flickering about 20 months after we bought it.
On/Off button on front of set and menu button on front of set not working, either. after looking at LCDparts website I think it may be MCUchip related.
Any luck with replacing inverters out there?
    Thanks

Geeze!!! I have the same problen with my Olevia LT37HVS. The screen started flickering or pulsiing and will not stop regardless of what I do. My set is only about a year old. You expect more when you spend $1100 for a TV.

ive tried everything...bought the tv for 1499.00 at comp USA which is out of business...had the set maybe 20 months and then one day it just starts strobing with a blue background....took it to a tv repair shop....took them 3 weeks to look at it when they told me it would be a week..then they finally told me that the video board was shot and that it would cost $838 to fix it..AFTER I gave them $100 just to look at it...then they told me that Olevia had no boards available....so I called Olevia..after hours of being on hold over 3 days/....I got ahold of a tech..he told me that he remembered talking to someone in my area about a board..but that the person seemed as if he did not know what he was talking about pertaining to my tv..said he 'd ship me a board..but that it would cost $238 and there'd be no returns..so Ive been in limbo for about 7 months now and STILL paying off on the tv.

It is not the inverters. I changed mine out and it did not fix the problem. I am stilll troubleshooting the boards, but I am 100% positive that it is the power supply or the main video control card. The power supply is the easiest so I will post if I find anything. It might be the controller IC that is on the board, but if it isn't...no schematics to troubleshoot the other card so we're all out of a tv

My TV has the same flashing screen problem. It is my understanding that it is the inverter board, which you can fix yourself. I have ordered the part, but it has not arrived yet and I have obviously not installed it, but it looks easy enough to do. If you are outside of your warranty, then stop letting Olevia ignore you, contact the Better Business Bureau or a similar consumer advocacy group and file a complaint against Olevia.

You can find the appropriate inverter board for $180 here:

I have had every problem but this, including crappy 2 inch speakers, slow response to remote which causes multiple mutes etc. which leaves me wondering where it will land. Customer support on the internet won't respond to any queries at all. Overall, though I like the picture, but it needs a bigger cpu or something of that nature, more memory perhaps. Also station/program info is in white on the screen, which is invariably unreadable against high brightness backgrounds & that is very irritating. Cannot use original speakers. Love the hi def pic though. Must be an LG screen.

My Olevia LT37HVS 37' was working fine all day and turned to black screen.

It is either the fluorescent backlight source for the LCD panel or its associated power supply failing.
