Probably your ipod nano's LCD(Screen) is broken., find a electronics repair shop near you and let them have a look and see if they can repair it, probably its just a loose wire or may be LCD replacement is required...
Actually, no body can repair the Sony Reader, as this product is newly launched. Hwever, you can check your local telephone directory to check whether any service person can repair it. But, it's always recommended to repair the Sony Reader at their Service Center, unless it may damage if any third party service man try to repair. Here are some tips to get it repaired by the third partyservice person: The Service person should have the service manual of the Reader. The Service person should have the prior knowledge to repair the Sony Reader. The Service person should be a certified repair person.
Sounds like the backlight of your LCD screen is broken. You can try to replace the LCD screen yourself, the part is available on any auction website. There is an iPod classic Repair service that can fix it for you. There is an iPod classic repair guide that can show you how to do the repair yourself.
It is definitely NOT cost-effective to repair it. Ask your local Geek Squad if they are willing - probably no - minimum $250. If you live in Philadelphia or another major metro, see if they have Mp3 repair servicemen - most places do not because the actual builders/info is in Korean, Japanese, etc, and b/c it is less expensive to replace than to repair.
Your lcd screen is broken. when you pushed it the rest of the screen started to break up, the area that is black is broken, I supose this could be fixed somehow but I imagine it would be very difficult if not impossible at home.
Basicly you need to replace your screen.
if you have warranty you can contact apple for support but since apple considers broken screens abuse they might not fix it, so you might have to buy one from ebay for examble or take it to a local professional who could do the job.
honestly it would probably cost more than the mp3 player is worth. After adding in shipping and handling, not to mention repair costs. It's probably worth it more to you to take and buy a new player. However search google there is always plenty of people out there that own small hobby shops and electronic repair stores. See what their prices are before going out to buy a new replacement.
