Question about Sony PlayStation 2 Slimline Console
I haven't played my PS2 in over a month and when I finally get into the mood to play some games The disc won't spin. I took it out to my neighbor and he plugged it in the disc started spinning. So we went inside hooked it up to the TV and tried it again but the disc would not start spinning like it did out side. I've tried my other games and CDs nothing works. At one point It started saying "Reading Disc" then the game would show up but then disappear and it would do it over again. after awhile it would stop. Please can some one tell me how to fix this. or tell me where a PS2 repair shop is in North east Ohio. I don't have much money so I'd much rather fix it my self. I have no way of getting parts off line either so where could I get the parts if I can fix it my self? (if parts are needed)
I had the same problam and i fixed it. Open your disk lid, and at the back on the right there's a small white bit touching the disk. You can push it back and it will spring forward again. Get a tiny bit of tape and stick it back but make sure there is no tape near where the disk will spin. Free and worked for me.

There's a post built into the Lid . It's the disc brake. When you put
the lid down , it moves the brake out of the way allowing the disc to
spin. If the post is broken , the brake stays on. No spin.
Either buy a new lid or find something to replace the post and glue it where the other one was.
Post dimensions are bout 0.080" by 0.250"

Hi Demonskid. You could have some lint of hair stuck under the disc drive hub. look at closely to see and get it out. The best thing is to know that the Slim laser has a plastic lens, and it will melt. Do not leave a disc in the powered up PS2 when your not playig with it. If you leave it running with a disc in the system and it is not reading the disc well, over time the Laser will heat up and melt the lens. If you posted this, how do you not have way of getting parts online. Go to www.playstationclinic.com and call them to ask for parts you need, they will send them to you at a very reasonable price.

What you need to do is check to see if the long screw running in line with laser and motor has'nt popped out . It happened to mine, so all you need to do is unscrew 6 screws on the bottom. Unclip the covers, 2 are under back feet, one under sticker which makes warranty void if opened. Turn it back over carefully take off top, then check the screw, if out a bit pop it back in and then it should work.
