It's very hard to exactly diagnose your problem exactly without being there. I'd say you have a power supply issue inside the keyboard. Maybe a shorted filter or diodes. If you have replaced the AC adapter, be sure that the polarity, voltage and current rating is correct.
This sounds like a console issue. Your options are kind of thin on this one. I would suggest doing some research in order to find an option to have the electronics repaired in the console.
It's either a loose connection from the motherboard to the video-display, or a partially-broken video-display, or the video-adapter in your motherboard.
Connect an external monitor -- if it looks OK when the internal LCD is "wavy", then your computer is fine.
But, since your say "happens to both screens", the most-likely problem is the video-adapter, which usually means that you will have to get COMPAQ to replace the motherboard.
Probably means that the board controlling the dispaly has gone bad. The only reset is in the menu so you would need to see the display or be able to connect the ZebraNet card if it has one attached.
2 of my 3 have done the same thing. It seemed to have happened after our power went out, although they werer all plugged into surge protectors. Now over time since thne they barely have any display at ALL. Cheap junk, say I.
i have the same problem. i go through it everyday.
but when my phone does it. i either hold down the joystick, or the delete button, and it puts away the lines for a slight bit. be careful when sliding it down though, sliding it down hard can also cause the lines to show up.
I had the same issue a while back and I believe a new power supply fixed that problem. If you know anyone with a multi-meter and they know how to use one they can tell you if your power supply is bad or not putting out enough voltage. I believe this system requires 12 volts and 400 milliamps it will say on your current power supply.
