When the air conditioner or heater is turned on, it works on all speeds but only blows out of the defrost and very little at the door vents. There is next to nothing blowing out of the front facing dashboard vents. The rear air works normal.

There is a blend door in the blower motor box and it has a senonide which opens and closes the door allowing the air to move in the desired direction, that door is either electric or vacuum operated.

SOURCE: heater blows cold air 1995 plymouth voyager

With the engine cold & the radiator full remove the radiator cap and start the engine. Let the engine reach operating temperature which will open the thermostat. When it opens the water in the radiator will start circulating if the pump & thermostat are operating properly. If all is ok replace the cap and turn the temperature lever on the heater to hot If you still have no heat check the heater valve on the engine firewall. Open it manually and see if you have heat. If yes check the cable from the velve to the temperature lever.

SOURCE: 1999 plymouth grand voyager heater does not blow hot

One of two probable problems:
1. The Heater / Air Condition Control is going bad or is bad.
a. Disconnect the negative side of the battery.
b. Remove the Heater / AC face plate off the front. To do this: Remove the two (2) screws on the top lip of the plate.
c. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the rear of the Control Module.
OR
2. The Heater Core is defective and needs to be replaced.
Sorry, but it has to be noted that the dealer or repair shop ($$) can diagnose the system at the Heater / AC Control Module. Also, after you replace this Module: a diagnostic and re-calibration tests are needed to be performed.

Why would my blower, vent, defrost, ac and heater just quit blowing air?

There are several possible reasons why your blower, vent, defrost, AC, and heater might stop blowing air:

1. Blower Motor Failure: The blower motor is responsible for blowing the air through the vents. If the blower motor fails, you will not get any airflow from the vents.
2. Blower Motor Resistor Failure: The blower motor resistor controls the speed of the blower motor. If the resistor fails, the blower motor may stop working or only work at one speed.
3. Fuse or Relay Failure: A blown fuse or faulty relay in the blower motor circuit can prevent the blower motor from working.
4. Control Module Failure: The HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) control module is responsible for controlling the blower motor and other components. If the control module fails, it can prevent the blower motor from working.
5. Vacuum Leak: If your vehicle uses a vacuum system to control the vents, a vacuum leak can prevent the system from working properly.
6. Broken Blend Door: The blend door controls the direction of the airflow. If the blend door breaks or gets stuck, the air may not flow through the correct vents.
7. Wiring or Connector Issues: Faulty wiring or connectors in the blower motor circuit can prevent the blower motor from working.

2007 merc grand marquis heater air comes out all of the vents and very little out of the defrost vents

Check to make sure the engine vacuum is getting to the heater/ac control. Bad vacuum hose or leak. Many vehicles use engine vacuum to move heater doors and controls. When the vacuum is absent, it usually defaults to air blowing out the AC vents.

My 2003 Camry vents are not blowing any air no matter what speed or tempature. But when I turn the defrost on a slight bit of a/c or heat (depending what I set it on) comes through. But the little bit of...

Can you hear the blower motor running ?
Could be a dirty cabin air filter, or blower problem, or blend door problem. The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and evaporator core as well as the vents.
If you have not replaced the cabin air filter check your owners manual on how to check it.

A/C will only blow through defrost vents

Common question on this site. On late model cars, the vents are controlled by blend door motors. Small electric motors open and close doors to direct air flow.
Chances are you have a blend door that is stuck or a failed motor.
The default position is the defrost to make sure the windshield is always clear.
Someone will need to look behind the dash to see if all of the doors will move on demand.

sounds like there is a blockage in the heater ducts or the doors that open & close to direct the air are stuck or broken. maybe a bad blend door actuator

2000 chevy astro cargo van. the heat registers on the gage but little comes out and only out defrost. thermostat????

If it is blowing hot air out of the defroster and not out of the heater vents then the door that directs the heat from the defroster isn't working properly it is blocking the heat from going to the heater vents. Also check the cold air door. It sounds like it isn't closing all the way to shut off the cold air and not letting the hot air pass.

98 Olds LLC - AC works but fan air does not blow

If you have a late model GM car and the system is controlled electronically the blend door actuator becomes weak. When this situation occurs it will not move the air direction door inside of the heater/air conditioner plenum. in your case not to the vents Replace the actuator with new and recheck the system. i hope this helps
