Fan Noise hi i have HP pavilion DV6000 with AMD 1600, 64 *2 and 2 GB or RAM . My problem is with the fan. Every 10 to 20 mins, it makes a fan noise though i use the latest bois version and i don't use heavy programs. Is there any solution recommended? Thank You,

I know what ur talking about. My fan comes on like every minute or so for maybe like 10 seconds and shuts off. Pretty noisy, not broken fan noisy but just noisy. My supervisor's dell seems to run pretty cool without even the fans coming on. I do not know if this is normal.

You can squirt a little of that sewing machine oil very sparingly into the centre of the fan. Else you can replace the fan it sounds like something is worn who knows your oil might boost it up to becoming better. It is a hardware problem and nothing to do with your software or firmware.

Loud fan noise can indicate overheating issue.

Second hard drive, can go bad, your hp should have told you that once you turn on.

Suggest you run the hp diagnostic tool to figure out if it is hardware issue. See the link below

The dv6000 series was commonly affected by the video card heating up and reseating itself. This was usually a soldering issue. You have a few options, You can either replace the motherboard, or have the motherboard reflowed. Unfortunately the video card itself is not detachable or individually replaceable.

I personally would recommend the second option as purchasing another dv6000 board will likely end you up in the same situation a year or 2 later.

A repair / reflow services on ebay
Dv6000 Repair

This repair tech only does amd processor models, Not intel.

Hope this helps.

Newer HP Pavilion dv6000 turned off while in use and wont turn on

1.Start your computer and see if your hear your fan noise, and cannot see anything on screen then there is problem with your power supply.

2.If you cannot hear your fan noise, and do not see anything on screen, then there is problem with your motherboard

3.if you hear fan noise and can see something on screen, then it is the issue with your hard disk (very less cases)

Mostly it would be the 2nd case that you will have to get your motherboard replaced

My hp Pavilion dv6000 keeps restarting each time and the screen is left blank all the time. I don't hear any sounds either to detect any hw failure. It's reseting each 13-15 seconds after turning on so I'm...

dv6000, NO OS stated, whY? XP?
for now we get bios going first, damn the OS.
first take the old shorted main battery out,
run on AC only. run now? fan must blow first does it?
also the CCLF go dead, at 20k hours used. black screens for ever now. CCLF is dead LCD backlamps. but fan dead is other issue.

the COin cell goes bad now, ever replace that?
HP RTC coin cell battery , tiny, a $2 fix.
they dont last for 11 years, sorry.

power button dead?
fan dead,?
screen dead. (never ever shows text)???
hdd does not spin making normal noise?
cd eject button dead.?
no beeps?
no caps lock blink codes.?
the AC pack is dead if the PC is %100 dead on AC most times
I can show you 10 to 20 more things inside that can do that.
takes a full dismantle to fix some,

My guess a shop repair is not in the cards?

My Hp DV6174CL laptop makes a fan grinding noise near the power button. this happened after a repair from Micromedics

The DV6000 units have a cooling fan located on the bottom of the case top left side.
If you hear a grinding noise, please do not use the unit.
Bring it back for repair. The blower is on-top of the CPU and if it does not recv. the correct cooling, it will take out the processor.

Insect buzzing noise.

If you feel the that the HDD or the fan is not making the insect buzzing noise then you maybe right it is the RAM... Open the ram slot and check how many RAMS are in there if there are two then remove the top RAM and keep it aside and start the system to check if the other RAM is making the noise...If there is no sound then check the same RAM which is in the system in the other slot and check if you are getting the noise...Then remove the RAM and then place in the RAM that was kept outside to check if the same happens...If the same happens at a particular slot then the slot is the problem and not the RAM....If one RAM is making a problem then you need to contact HP for the RAM....Please contact me if you need any guidance further down from here

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 and the fan has started making noises

Its possible but it would require taking out all the screws from the bottom of the latop, taking out the keyboard and the screws from the top cover. Then disconnecting the ribbon for the mouse pad and any other plugs coming from the top cover. After you take off the top cover you'll expose where the fan is at and at that point you can clean it off. If it still makes weird sounds then the fan would need to be replaced.

Cpu fan noise problem

It appears that the 1GB RAM that you installed is generating more heat due to the density of the chips they require more power. This is what is causing the fan to work harder. To verify this you can re-install the original memory and see if the fan noise reduces due to lower heat.

Hi,
Dust on the CPU Fan, or rear casing Fan. Or Hard-Drive wear to fluid bearings.
