Error message There was a paper jam and I cleared it but then it read "unable to print 50" and said to reference the manual. I don't have a manual here @ work (I brought this printer from home) and the Brother site isn't working so do you know how to fix this issue? I would really appreciate your help. Thank You, Carye Morris

I have the same problem-. I cleared the paper jam, and sometimes get the error code 50, and sometimes it just says it has an error. I cleared the jam, unplugged it over niight, and finally took it to a repair shop. They said the paper drive mechanism was bad and they can not get one, unless I can find an old machine and scavenge it. Since I have am ample supply of ink I will not get an HP, but another model Brother that takes the same ink. It is just over one year old.

You may have a piece of paper still lodged in the machine. Lift the top cover and also check the rear door carefully also. Check the paper feed rollers for any small bits of paper. Power the machine off for 30 seconds and hold the stop key while powering on until the time and date return to the display.

DCP J315W unable to print 50

Try forcing a piece of thin cardboard into the paperfeed. (like a kleenex box, only the size of a piece of paper) look inside, and once your can reach it, get hold of it and pull it through. (do this with printer unplugged)You might be surprised what comes out with it. I had a little piece of paper jammed in there and the cardboard forced it out.

Unable to print 50

Error 50: The machine does not work due to a paper jam or some sensor problem.

Clear the paper jam.

See here for illustrated instructions on how to clear a paper jam.

If the problem still continues after clearing the paper jam it could mean a problem with a sensor and you may need to contact a service representative.

For future reference a list and explanation of Error Codes can be found here.

Trust this is helpful.

Message unable to print 50

Machine Error 50 either means that there is a loose object inside the machine (usually piece of paper), or that there is a mechanical error which would need you to have the machine sent to service.

Supply Memory Error

It sounds like you are having two diffrent problems. I don't think they are associated with each other.
First, the memory supply error. The cartridges on this machine have a chip. The chip could very well be faulty causing this supply error message. Change the black cartridge and see if the message clears. if it dosen't then the antena that reads that chip needs to be replaced. I suspect the cartridge is the problem.
Second, the paper jams. This can be caused by a worn p/u roller as you mentioned. Sounds like the jam happens first then the error, based on your description.
The black thing you refer to on the door is called the "transfer belt assembly".

Brother Print Unable 50 Error

No ;-)

The encoder strip switched off the ph and has to be set into place again.
see here how to fix it:
http://www.fixya.com/support/t211210-brother_mfc845cw

(enlarge the browser window to see pics somewhat better)

An advice:
when you have set the encoder strip in pos. again stick some scotch tape on the top of the ph cover where the strip runs thru to prevend the slipping off again on next paper jam ;-)

Error message print unable 50

the encoder strip which gives the printhead the position is out of place (error 50). You have to open the printer and reinsert the strip:

Stick a 1.5 inch tape onto the printhead cover where the strip runs thru. This will prevent this accident in future!

Error message

I can't find the "50" as part of the "Unable to print" error. Usually when you get "Unable to print", it means there's a torn piece of paper, paperclip, some foreign object in the machine somewhere. Check under the scanner lid and inside the machine, look thoroughly; you may find a piece of paper blocking a sensor. If the error message continues, follow these steps before disconnecting the MFC so you won't lose any important messages. Then, disconnect the MFC from the power source for several minutes (which will erase all faxes), and then reconnect it. Check whether the MFC has faxes in memory: 1. Press Menu/Set, 9, 0, 1. 2. If the MFC has no faxes, disconnect the MFC from the power source for several minutes and then reconnect it. ?OR? If faxes are present, you can transfer them to another fax machine. Go to Step 3. 3. Enter the fax number to which faxes will be forwarded. 4. Press Black Start. 5. After faxes are transferred, disconnect the MFC from the power source for several minutes and then reconnect it. You can transfer the Fax Journal report to another fax machine by pressing Menu/Set, 9, 0, 2 in Step 1. Let me know if it helps!
