Question about Hotpoint TDC32 Electric Dryer

Hotpoint tdc32 Dryer

Hi My tumble dryer has a problem, I had someone take a look at it and they said the motor was gone. I find this hard to believe because when you switch on the dryer the power goes through it but the drum isn't turning. What could this be and if I had the appropriate part would I be able to fix it myself. I am pretty handy!

    Thanks Barnsley Mick,

No the person who looked at it wasn't an engineer he is the neighbours brother who would do anything to gt into my kitchen! That is why I was doubtful, also being a woman I thought that if the motor had gone then why is there still power going into the machine? the problem is that the drum isn't turning not that there is no power. Obviously us women, though handy do sometimes doubt logic that is why we are such wonderful creatures.

    Thanks for your help

If you were handy then why did you ask for someone to help you, if he is an engineer then take his word for it, there are not many out there who would tell fibs, after all he didn't get the work so had nothing to gain, so what makes you doubt him now, if the drum doesn't turn then obviously he can be right i would suggest the appropriate part is the motor, work it out ps i am a recently retired engineer of 20 years

How do i adjust the belt on my tumble dryer

First unlug unit, remove front or back lower panel to expose motor and belt. There will be a roller between the the motor and roller, this is the belt tensioner, loosen this and make belt tighter, then lock down the nut or bolt.
