Re: frequent disconnection of internet service

HI rodelio,

Please give me the backbone of your committed internet rate (CIR), is it burstable bandwidth?  Actually router  is designed for Network Address Translation (NAT) which means it is better to have fast ISP that has committed internet rate (CIR). It is constantly happened for internet connectivity fluctuation cause of very low CIR specially when you are connected with more than 3 computers on the network setup.

Much better to used proxy server with linux, or Kerio Route Firewall for better performance of your browsing.

I am glad if you can extend your problem to me. I am here to help you.

Best regards,

My router disconnect frequently

Question: the connection to router disconnects OR the internet disconnects,
If router disconnect: then try being in range, choose a better spot, keep router in a good spot,
If internet disconnects, cal ISP get it checked, make sure you run ping test to make sure its consistent , here is an example,
open run: type cmd, hit enter,
type : ping -t
hit enter, it should give regular pings without timeouts....if too many timeouts, internet service has issues,
call them and report..

Cox modem connection, linksys wrt54g router. Often get disconnects, signal strenght strong. Frequent disconnects on one laptop about 20 ft away. (this is a newly acquired Sony laptop about five yrs old.)...

ok two things could apply here.If you have internet phone be sure that interface is after the router and not between the cable modem and router.
I have found on my linksys that did the same thing I had to reset the router back to factory settings and reapply my settings. To do that look for a red reset button or pinhole ( push needle gently to microswitch for 2-3 seconds.Hope that helps

Internet doesn't stay consistently connected

belkin is famous for dropping its signal for no apparent reason, in my findings and dealings with several routers i have found "netgear" to be the best company not just for their products but for their customer service and tech support as well

Frequent disconnections from the internet. Works fine just the odd disconnection for less than a second. Set up as manual discribes on an AOL broadband. Has 2 Lan ethernet cables plugged into it.

Disconnection would mean a upgrade in the router firmware. Try to upgrade and hopefully that should solve the issue 2. Connect to the modem from the ISP directly to see if the issue is seen there as well.
Thanks Ranjit

Iam running internet cafe i have a adsl internet connection, I have bought one WAG54G wireless adsl router and 8 port Netgear switch, i have establish 7 connection through the switch connected with router...

The internet is disconnecting that means the problem is with the router. you also said that the router is getting hot.
I think probably you can try to upgrade the firmware of the router.
Or if it is a new router then try to get it replaced from the store.
