The speedometer and odometer of my MB C230 year 2000 is intermittently stopping. somebody said it might just be a loose connector at the back of instrument cluster,does someone know the connector number so I can probably just tighten it? THANKS

SOURCE: Electrical Instrument cluster does not function

I had the same problem with a car i owned and found out it was a short in the wireing in the dash, you will have too have it re-wired, but too be certain you should have it checked out by a mechanic in your city.........

SOURCE: Instrument cluster on my 2005 S500 back illumination went out, although all the gauges are still working inclusive of the on board computer

remove the cluster(should be able to insert Small flat head screwdrivers into slots on plastic trim of cluster. Lower your steering wheel down and remove key. wait approx 30 seconds until cluster is off( means that the interior c.a.n. has went to sleep) unplug cluster and see if the bulbs you wish to replace are accessible from the rear cover. if not remove retaining screws and un clip rear cover from housing. You should have access to the back lighting bulbs

1998 ford contour....engine temp guage will suddenly stop working.....thern later comes back on. Engine does not seem to be overheating. Also speedometer stops working intermittently...sometimes comes back...
This could be a loose wire in your instrument cluster. I had the same problem with my S-10, but mine was a little bit worse. I have replaced the instrument cluster (17 dollars at the local junkyard), and everything works fine.

1994 940 Volvo wagon turbo has intermittent electrical problems. Blinker on dash stays lit. Dash lights go out but will come back. Radio stopped working then both radio and CD player stopped working all...
It truly sounds like a loose or faulty/corroded ground wire. Almost 99% of the electrical problems I have experienced with Volvo's are loose wire related. There are a number of ground wires underneath the hood grounding the engine. However my first suspect would be the connections on the alternator and battery.
