It is normal that hard drives get hot to an extent....beause of a higher RPM.....
if it seems heating extremely you should do something to cool it.
Soldering the pins may not have caused the problem...
When the system is assembled it is kept close to the chassis and screwed thouroughly to avoid shokes and to dissipiate the heat.
You also follow the giudelines on the manaul or more information from the drive manufacturer's website.
