Question about LG LRFD22850 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator French Door

1 Answer

Ice at the bottom of the freezer

Over time ice forms in the bottom of the freezer (inside the freezer). If I don't chip a way at it, it leaks through the bottom of the freezer door onto the floor. Are my freezer and refrigerator temp settings wrong? I have frzr temp set a 0 degrees F and refrigerator temp at 37 defrees F. Any suggestions? thanks.

Ice buildup at the rear of the freezer. Tech. said he had never seen the prob. before. He cleaned out the ice, howerer, the ice came back two weeks later.

Now we have ice buildup in the freezer and the refrig. is making a noise that sounds like fan blades are hitting something.

Our GE Bottom Freezer Refrigerator has the same problem. Our frig is only 4 yeas old and we having water in the bottom freezer floor which freezes and then more water comes and leaks out onto the floor. Looks like the water is coming from the back wall from plastic covers. The door seals seem to be fine. Could this be something to do with the defosting lines with in the frig? If so, how can this be corrected?

We have an LG French door bottom freezer 'fridge Model # LRFC25750SW. Ice 1/4" to 1/2" builds up in the tray under the bins in the drawer unit. After we discovered water on the floor in front of the freezer and then the ice build-up, we've had to remove the ice about once per week.

The frustrating thing about this problem is that it seems to be unfixable! Our 'fridge is only 4 years old and its gaskets seem to be in perfect operating condition. LG has authorized service personnel only for the outlying Seattle area, not in the city, itself, so we're left with no one who will come to even attempt to fix the problem! We've been extremely happy with the 'fridge to date but the lack of responsiveness by LG service personnel has turned us against this company!

It sounds like the freezer has leaking door seals and air is getting in to the freezer compartment. Your temperatures are set about right. Regards

Ice Maker leaks water inside the freezer

I see you said you looked and the water valve is off but the only that I know of this happening is a defective water control valve. Like a dripping faucet that when off slowly drips until the ice forms and then one the ice maker dumps ice and tries to refill the water goes in every direction. Unplug water valve to confirm what I am saying, Tell me if it continues to leak. Sea Breeze

Ice if forming along top gasket area and side of freezer where

If we have ice on the inside of the freezer it means air is being pulled into the box somewhere. The most likely place is the door seal, it sounds like you already checked it, but I would suggest that you look very close at the bottom and aides of the seal too, it could be leaking in air from there. Check the inside liner for cracks and seal them if you find any. Look at the corners of the cabinet to make sure there is not room for air to come in.

Air leaks will lead to frost, it is just hard sometimes to find where it is leaking in.

Ice forms around fan and makes a loud humming noise

It's probablly caused by air leakage through the ice room fan electrical connection inside the freezer. Behind the back wall inside the freezer, the icd fan is the fan that blows air up to the in-door icemaker. The plug on that, into a molded plug on the back of the feezer compartment, is a red plastic part with three wires in it. Try filling in around the wires and the red plastic with a bit of silicone. (if you replace the ice room fan, the new plug comes with a rubber filler which seals this spot). (PS. Next time, avoid Sears)

Water leaking and ice in bottom shelf of freezer

Chances are you have a bad seal around the door if it's leaking from the inside which causes the ice to form as well, or if it's leaking from under the freezer you lave a bad heating element that evaporates the water collected in the pan under the freezer or you have a clogged hose that goes to the pan under the freezer which also causes the ice to form because the water has no place to go. Defrost and try to find a way to blow out the hose that goes from your freezer to the pan under the freezer and that should take care of your problem.

Ice in freezer compartment

I have seen this problem with the LG freezer unders. There is a air leak that is getting into the freezr allowing the moisture to frost up at the back of the freezer. It will form frost all over too. Since your unit is 8 month old call Lg and let them deal with the problem. At my last Lg training the problem is with the air damper in the fresh food section may not be closing fully. So Call for service.
