Camera doesn't switch ON

I just took some pics, switched off and placed the camera on the table. after a day when i tryed to switch ON, it was not working. so i thought it is due to low battery, but i came to know that something else is wrong. when the battery is inserted the red LED always glows.... i even opened the camera to see any loose connections, but couldn't find that. so is there any internal short or do i rectify that please give me a solution

Having the exact same problem. Took pictures yesterday morning, looked at them with the camera hook up to my computer yesterday afternoon. About an hour later, unplug the USB from my camera and went to turn it on, with no luck. The green LED on top comes on for about 2 seconds, then goes off. Tried putting fresh batteries in, same thing.

    Anyone with any ideas?

Camera won't switch on, put new batteries in it, took a photo to test, since then it won't switch on.

If you were able to take one shot before the camera packed up it can be that the battery does not have charge on it and so after the first shot it has drained the battery. So check out the charge on it or repeat charging to test once again.
Other wise it can be that the camera control unit is faulty. Try and reset by removing battery for a while and trying once again.

I took out the memory card to download pics to pc and when i put it back in the camera now says 'card locked'. I tried another card and the camera also says it for this card.

Look on the card in the corner. You will see a slide switch, most likely with a lock symbol.

Slide the switch and it will unlock the card. It was probably moved accidentally when you took it out of the camera.

Just got new easyshare, cannot review pics and pics will not copy

All cameras need a memory card of some description. A 1GB SD card would be more than big enough from any photographic shop. Make sure that the lock switch on the side of the SD card is not set.

Did not get a disc with my dpix 5200 camera im unable to send pic

Prakticam, unhelpfully don't have anything for their cameras more than a couple of years old and don't seem to care if you mislay the disc you paid for.So be warned, don't buy Praktica. I have the 5200, you have firstly to put your usb in computer, switch on camera, switch camera to view pictures taken mode, and because it auto switches to take picture mode you then carefully attach camera end into camera whilst camera is still switched on! Then go to my computer and click on F: the pictures download. Then to save them click on first pic, hold shift key down and then click on last pic they should all highlight, right click and then hover 'send to' and send by left clicking to my documents. I remember that it took me 4 hours to work it out. Found this looking for manual to download, cannot change date now......

if your cam is using a sd card, the card could be locked, theres a little switch on the side of the card try using that and see wat happens. its tiny on one of the sides.

I can not switch on mu camera,

if the camera is under warranty it´s free....if not it could be expensive, depending where u are they will send it to portugal or to czech republic, that´s where in europe all the olympus cameras are repaired, and they don´t have such software, i know i worked there, probably tis the card slot damaged, and they will replace it.

Faulty Memory Card

Sounds like the file allocation table on the card got screwed up. Try Googling Compact Flash Data Recovery. I know you're not using compact flash cards but the techniques for data recovery are pretty much the same regardless of the media. If and when you're able to recover what you can, I wouldn't use that card anymore myself. Good luck!
