As set is dead the problem is in power supply or horizontal section. though it is a simple &less time taking. but if you have no TV repair experience, or any experience tracing circuit flow with a schematic, call in a tech to assist you with this repair. This tv set is not the place to be experiementing inside of. You probably have bad capacitors and transistors in the power supply or the sweep power supply. Good Luck.

Try cleaning the little fans that keep the bulb cool, the temp sensor will shut it off so not to damage the bulb , the winning sound may be the fan going bad or not working like it should.

I have a sony 52 inch wegagate dlp ty that has a dim picture what could be the problem?

If its a Sony and a DLP a lot of times just before the lamp life ends it gives a darker or dim picture---if it gets dim enough set will shut down.

Sony Dlp, 46" shuts off, cools off, then turns

This is probably a heat issue (assuming you aren't the one turning off the TV and aren't having regular power failures). This TV has two fans to help keep the components cool; if the temperature increases, the TV will shut down to protect those components. Also check if the ventilation slots are blocked and clean the dust off them. (When you have the TV open, you can blow out dust as well - much like dust removal for a desktop CPU.)

For replacement fans, you can go here: http://www.partstore.com/Model/Sony/Sony/KDF46E2000.aspx .

I hope this helps.

Sony wega engine 3lcd. turns itself off

It must be dlp tv that use lamp, is it?
If its true then replace lamp in tv that reached to end of its working life span and causing problem.
Your question shows it is CRT tv but symptom says it would be dlp tv.
Let me know if you have additional question about tv.

Power keeps going on and off

Hi,
Model number posted in question that is KDF-60SX955 shows it is Sony dlp tv, if tv shuts down and turns On itself then reason is weak lamp that is near to end of its working life and need to be replaced to fix this issue.
Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual and its easy. Please buy Sony original lamp for good quality picture in tv.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

your keeping a part that is warming up and shuts down your shutdown that protects the tv from burning up... cooler... to find this you might need a hair dryer or a can of freeze mist.
I believe the left side is your high-voltage section.
you can also let it warm-up without the fan .. let it shut down and feel parts with set unplugged to see what is running hot.
