Subwoofer rumbles when idle - Mackie SWA1501 Subwoofer

rumbles?, did the RPM drop below 800 RPM? that is called idle failure
and when it does, idle can go to 400 rpm and will shake hard.
and is normal for illegal idle speeds. so post that first.
post that engine stalls
and that the RPM is 400-500 just before the stall.
then post if the fast right foot can save the stall (a key test !!!!)
if easy the ISC is sticking.
if tad hard the EGR is stuck open'
if impossible to save. then more possible (many)
ever do the 60k mile tune up this decade????,. if not why not./ now.

If your subwoofer is self-powered, turn down its volume control. Also, the rumbling can be caused by placement near objects that inturn can vibrate. Sup woofers are non diretional and therefore easily relocated. Also, try placing the subwoofer unit on a piece of carpet. This will stop any vibration picked up by the floor.

Have you tried just turning the subwoofer amp

check all your supply wiring's specially the one that is connected directly to the positive terminal of your battery, it has to be of enough gauge to supply your amplifier's wattage, and it is has to be properly grounded to the body of your car.

check ur rca cables might be broken

It's passing "engine noise" at 80hz and below. If you turn off the crossover on the amp, it will be unbelieveably loud. Check your RCA connections at the deck and at the amp. Then make sure your ground wire to the amp is solid and not oxidized. Check your battery terminal as well. Make sure your ground wire is the same gague as the power, and that it's grounded to the floor, not a seat bolt or side panel, as they are very poor grounds. Hope this helps. I had the same problem with mine, I change the 4700Mf filters and the problem was fixed.

I'm having the same issue as pdoug: Sub rumbles in test mode, doesn't produce sound otherwise. Which makes me suspect it's the receiver itself -- the filter (or whatever) it is that should be separating the bass signal and sending it to the sub is not working. At least that's my guess.

Either way... this sucks.
