Question about GE JVM1190 Microwave Oven

GE Spacemaker 2.0 Microwave just died!

Hi, I'm trying to get a diagnosis of a problem we're having with our microwave. It popped the circuit breaker on the main panel. We reset the breaker, but the microwave did not come back on. No lights, or power. I checke the receptacle and it was live. I removed both fuses (main and HV) from the microwave and tested them with a multimeter for resistance. They seem fine, multimeter indicates 0 ohms of resistance. If fuse was bad it would indicate an "OL - open line". Can anyone please help me?

Re: GE Spacemaker 2.0 Microwave just died!

If you're getting power at the outlet, the most common problems causing a "dead" condition are a bad thermostat (or thermal cutout / thermal fuse) on or near the magnetron, a blown internal fuse, or a problem on the control circuit board. I would suspect the thermal cutout / thermal fuse in this case. You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your model number here: If it seems to be a problem on your control board, we repair these for $39.95 nationwide in most cases. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: If you need more help, feel free to follow up here, but please include your model number (e.g. JVM1190, etc.) I appreciate your thoughtful rating of my answer.

I was just using the microwave and it died on me. No power to the unit that I can tell.

Check the circuit breaker. If it's pugged into GFCI type outlet or an outlet that's run from one, make sure the breaker didn't trip there.

GE Spacemaker Microwave JVM1441 BH04 tripping circuit breaker

your power transformer for the magnetron could have a shorted primary power winding, the door safety interlock switch could be mis-adjusted,this normally blows the internal unit fuse,a shorted high voltage capacitor,or diode,a bare wire inside the unit, more than the microwave on that circuit or a weak circuit breaker in the house power panel

Microwave won't turn on. Seems like it is not getting power. I checked breaker. I am looking for a fuse. You know where one is? It is a GE Spacemaker(2 yrs old) model # JVM1440WH04

  • Make sure that the microwave is plugged into a grounded outlet. It must be a 3-prong outlet.
  • Make sure the clock is set.
  • Check to see if a programming sequence was entered. Sometimes improper programming or a program sequence such as delay start can cause the touch panel to be non-responsive. Unplug microwave or turn off house circuit breaker for 30 seconds. Plug back in, or reset circuit breaker, and try reprogramming unit.
  • Check the house circuit breaker or fuse box. If the microwave is DEAD and there is no display and nothing works- the problem could be a blown fuse or tripped breaker.
