Question about GE Wireless Optical Mouse

3 Answers

Highlighting All of a sudden I cannot highlight one letter or word - entire sentences disappear. I have to click somewhere else on the page to make that highlighting disappear so that I can try again. Just trying to correct one letter in a word will sometimes take 4 or five tries. I write for a living - this is driving me crazy. Is it my mouse???? (I'm running 10.3.9 and the mouse is Macally icemouse jr.)

Thanks, Beakman. No Click Lock found but I readjusted my tracking speed, etc. and it's working better.

Can't highlight what I want, can't always hold the selection long enough to delete or copy.  Can't click inside a word to add a letter or reverse a msitake :)

Can't crop in iPhoto; it won't hold it.  Windows I try to move around on the screen will jump into the Dock.  I probably have other symptoms but it's late and I'm frustrated.
I keep it clean!  Always have.  I've read the online instructions for taking it apart and GLUING it back together, but that's not gonna happen.  If it's a worn USB cable, all I can think of to do is replace it.  I've already checked Amazon and eBay!  If there is another solution, I'd love to hear it.
I bought my G4 iMac in 2002, and it's the original Pro Mouse, Model M5769

I finally did the obvious and replaced my mouse.  What a difference!  Remember, mine was the original, purchased in 2002!! And, selecting text was not my only problem...
I appreciated being able to "vent" here. Thanks!

GUYS! GUYS!... Quit using your mouse to select text.
Click your mouse on the text to place your insertion point.. AND THEN... USE YOUR ARROW KEYS to move the insertion point.
HOLDING DOWN the SHIFT key while pushing the arrow keys willl HIGHLIGHT the text.
Up, Down, Left, Right Arrow keys
Page Up, Page Down puts the insertion point at the beginning and end of all text. Add the shift key with it and it will highlight everything There are many combos. Play around with it. and don't forget CRTL Z. The key command for UNDO.

You may have turned on click-lock. You can disable this feature in Control Panel, under Accessibility Options. Click Lock helps people who have a hard time holding the mouse button while dragging the mouse across the screen by holding the mouse button for them

How do I highlight words to copy and paste them

Well, to highlight words you have some choices. Using the mouse is likely the easiest. If you double-click any word it will automatically highlight. If you triple-click it will highlight the entire sentence.

Alternatively, you can drag to highlight. Consider the following:

The cat climbs up the tree.

If you place the cursor (mouse) at the first capital T and then click and drag to the . at the end it will highlight. You can get specific this way.

The following is dependent on what application you are using. If you are using a Word Processor (like MS Word, Libre Writer, or Notepad) you can actually highlight with your arrow keys and shift.

If you take the previous example and were writing in Word, you could use your arrow keys to go to the "cat" portion and then hold down "Shift" - while holding down shift, use your arrow keys to begin highlighting letter by letter.

Give it a shot!

You can then "copy" by using the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + C" or by "right-clicking" and selecting copy. Lastly, you can press the key on your keyboard that looks like a menu. It is between the ALT and CTRL keys on the right hand side. That is the "Context Menu" button which is the same as "right-clicking".

To paste, the options are similar. You have to click on where you want to paste and then use one of the following:

"Ctrl + V" to paste
"Shift + Insert" to paste
or "right-click" then paste (Or press that context menu key on your keyboard and select paste with your mouse.)

Hope that helps!

How do I underscore a word? what keys do I need to push

In Microsoft word there is a box at the top left hand side. It has the letters B, I and U shown. Click "B" and the letter will be BOLD, Click "I" and the letter is on a slant, Click "U" and the letter is underscored.
Highlight the word or sentence you want to change by clicking and holding the left mouse button which will highlight the part(s) you want to change.

Samsung labtop cursor jumps around when typing causing all kinds of problems including highlighting and erasing entire lines or sentences!

Press Fn & F10. This disables the touchpad. You will have to use arrows or a mouse to move the cursor. This helps when you are doing a lot of typing. Press the same keys to enable the touchpad when you are finished typing.

One way to do it is to type a series of letters (they don't have to make any sense at all.

Next, highlight the entire series of letters, right click and choose hyperlink. In the box that comes up, type the text you want displayed on the mouse-over and hot OK.

Next, highlight the entire string of text again and change the color of the font to white. The entire string ox characters will disappear, yet everytime you mouse-over, the text you want displayed will be seen in a small popup box.

Does your laptop have a touch pointer within the keypad? This can cause the problem you're experiencing. Did you try turning the track stick off in the touchpad settings?

"Find" highlighting broken

Have you tried re-installing FireFox? If not, give that a go. Otherwise, you may be better off contacting Mozilla. Check your screen resolution too. Running a low res these days can sometimes mean webpages wont display properly on Firefox, and it will sometimes highlight the words even if they are out of the windows view range. Try pressing "Ctrl-" a few times to zoom out and get a better view, then try again to see if you can spot the green highlights.
Hope that helps.
