Question about HP Compaq FS7600 17" CRT Monitor

1 Answer

Gauss? I'm not sure if I'm calling the problem the right thing. Every so often my image gets shaky and I have to use the buttons on the front to degauss it. This happens on at random times; at the worst times it happens up to every ten minutes other times it can go for hours without needing to be degaussed. Is there any simple way to fix this such as resetting it or something? I didn't put a magnet near my monitor but I think the problem was caused by either my new cell phone which was receiving data and sitting right underneath it the first time it messed up or it was might have been my laptop which was sitting next to it.

Re: Gauss?

Yes you are right 1 what you can do in future is please do not move the monitor when you are doing work. 2 please do not use degauss button very often when ever you face problem if possible put monitor off for minimum 15 degaussing is not that helpful when it is on. 3 as you know about magnet. 4 not but least crt is getting weak.( very rare.)

Hp 2010i monitor shaky, can't find degauss option

I don't think degaussing your monitor is going to help with this issue. Degaussing mainly addresses color correction around the monitor edges due to a magnetic field and applies to CRT monitors not LCD monitors which yours is. If by your term "shaky" you mean the image is unstable, then the problem is either in the main board which controls the X Y sync or with the power supply board. If you are knowledgeable with electronics you could probably repair this at home for $40 or less. If not then I would shop for another monitor to replace yours. Don't throw your old monitor away, instead post it for sale on craigslist. There are a lot of do it yourself type people who will buy this either for parts or to repair and resell. I don't know what it will bring as far as cash, might be $40 might be $5 but anything is better than zero.

How do I resolve image on screen shaking?

Hope you are talking about a computer. Do you have any electrical objects near your PC? Stuff like radios, phones etc cause waves on your screen because of the waves that they produce to communicate...magnets can also cause this...just things to look out for...also try the connects on the back...screen waves could be due to this!

When I press the OSD reset button to get the screen to optimize the display, the displayed image moves 3 inches to the right (so I get 3 inches of black screen on the left) and the display looks washed...

Hi Mdamon,

Please follow the below steps to solve your problem :-

Your LCD panel has the settings button which you need to use to adjust your LCD screen to the center and make sure there is no black strip remaining after appropriate settings,

To make things easy for you , click on the below to download the manual directly so that you have a complete idea of the steps that are supposed to be taken for the screen adjustment.

There are many factory settings of different settings that are preset and can be activated using the panel.

Tip :- Try changing the screen resolution via the display properties from your desktop as an incorrect resolution could result in bad images or blurred images.

Hope this helps, your feedback would be appreciated.

The images on my monitor is very blurry and shaky,i can barely see anything. It's also beginning to affect my sight.

Check the computer with another monitor.
If it works fine, then you have to send the monitor for repair.
If the result is still the same, then you need to change the video card of your computer.

The screen is too bright for me, and I can't read the words above the tabs that are on the rim. How do I make it dimmer?

I'm not sure what monitor you have but most monitors have buttons along the front or front bottom that give you access to the adjustments for things like brightness and contrast. It also allows you to shrink or enlarge the screen so you can see the entire image. If you can't located anything on the monitor re-post here with the brand and model of monitor you are using.
Hope this helps.

Go to the setup menu on the LCD panel by pressing button 1 on the front. See if there is an option to reset the lcd to factory settings. Reset it and report if it helps not.

Screen is shaky

Often such symptoms are caused by interference.

Try separating cables from other cables, keeps speakers, phones etc away from the display, and try plugging power into a different circuit.

If none help, update the video drivers or connect the display to someone else's computer.

If the issue does not exist on another computer and you have done all the things above, the problem is likely a bad video card or power supply.

Mad monitor

its reaching the end of its life im afraid, the FETs are slowly giving up. however make sure it is far away from electromagnetic sources, eg: speakers etc... and in its menu there should be a "de-gauss" button! give it a whirl!
