This sounds like a possible motor problem.

Most likely a bad drive belt. Take the cover off the motor area. If you see black dust near the left side of the motor, replace the drive belt.

The drive belt was loose. I tightened up the motor just a smidge using a crow bar. That solved the problem.

The walkbelt is either worn out or has a lack of lubrication between the walkbelt and deck. Either condition causes too much friction between the belt and deck causing the motor to overheat. Do not use silicone or unapproved lubricants as they will deteriorate the walkbelt.

SOURCE: Nordictrack EXP 1000 Treadmill Quits after 10 Minutes

Hello There, Thank you for all the information. It appears as if your walk belt is worn. What is happening is the friction from the bottom of the belt is actually causing the motor to overheat (there is a thermal cutout inside where the 2 blue wires go) When the belt wears the cloth on the underside becomes flattened out causing too much surface area to contact the walk board, thus the extra friction.
To check your walk board you can loosen the adjusting bolts on the rear and while lifting the walk board look underneath. If there is any wear/white areas then you will need to replace the board as well. You will be able to tell by just rubbing your hand across it and check for any places where the black film may be coming off.
Also the only time you really need to replace any of the rollers is when the bearings go bad or the pulley on the front roller separates. The rollers are about a 1% chance of causing this problem.
Good Luck! and great question, Tim

The deck needs to be lubricated. The lubricant can be purchase @ gympart.com. LUBRICATION PROCEDURE: 1. Turn off and unplug treadmill. 2. Cut off the end of the tube of lubricant. 3. Holding the tube in one hand, insert the tube underneath the treadbelt halfway between front and back and halfway between right and left. 4. Squeeze the full contents of the tube onto the deck in a circular pattern in the center 1/3 of the deck. 5. If the machine is over 7 years old then you need to replace the walking belt. Most proform treadmills are not meant to be run on, especially by anyone over 220lbs. Forget what the manual says, they are a terrible company.

When I am walking on the treadmill it starts to slow down and then it will stop

Make sure that the walk belt is tight ( about 2 inches of deflection at the edge). Do you smell anything or hear anything before it quits?

Proform 350s crosstrainer treadmill; surges 3 MPH to 4MPH

Walking Belt is Worn: The only certain way to test for a worn walking belt is to take a DC amp draw (if you have a DC treadmill) or an AC draw (for AC). Trying to look at the belt or a feel test is highly unreliable. Better tests, if you lack a DC ammeter (they are expensive for a good one), are a coast test or an incline test. The coast test is to get on the treadmill as the lowest incline setting and walk on the treadmill at 3 MPH. Pull the safety key and it should take you 2-3 full steps to stop (this is a general rule…some like a few Tunturi models stop on a dime even with a healthy belt but for most models, this tests works well upon). Fewer steps indicate high friction. The incline test is to put the treadmill at max incline and walk on it at 3 MPH. If the treadmill operates normally at max incline but bogs down at minimum incline, replace the walking belt. Gravity takes over for the drive system eliminating much of the friction problem. On some heavily worn walking belts, this test will not eliminate the problem. Go to your local hard ware store and purchase silicone spray. Apply Lubricant by lift one side of the running belt spray contents length wise starting at motor shroud to the back end repeat this process on the other side. If this unit bogs down again then you will have replace the running belt and possibly the deck

Proform 622 Exp treadmill belt slips

If the walking belt slips when walked on, first remove the key and UNPLUG THE POWER CORD. Using the hex key, turn both rear roller bolts clockwise, 1/4 of a turn. When the walking belt is correctly tightened, you should be able to lift each edge of the walking belt 2 to 3 inches above the walking platform. Be careful to keep the walking belt centered. Then, plug in the power cord, insert the key, and carefully walk on the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the walking belt is properly tightened. Now if this does not solve this problem then check the drive belt and adjust accordingly, also reverse the process of the above mentioned
