I see the wire, it's white, but can't find anything attached. Do I have to take something off to see it, like the console? Sorry, I'm a newbie. I see the wire, it's white, but can't find anything attached. Do I have to take something off to see it, like the console? Sorry, I'm a newbie.

The ABS light illuminates when there is an "out of specification" condition. From your description, it sounds like your parking brake cable may require tightening, or there may be an issue where the rear brakes are not properly releasing when the parking brake is released. With car that is nearly 20 years old, it is not inconceivable that the rear brakes and parking brake assembly may require regular service.
A good first step would be to have error codes read out by a local mechanic or auto parts store. This may give you a better indication of the specific problem. In any case, ANY brake warning should be taken VERY SERIOUSLY and corrected IMMEDIATELY, as you may have a potentially dangerous potential of catastrophic brake failure. PLEASE GET THE ISSUE FIXED RIGHT AWAY!
sounds like the parking brake arm is not returning to the fully off position. try pull the release handle and at the same time pull up on the lever. if the light goes out then its not fully returning. it could be out of adjustment or the brake cables or sticking and need to be freed up.
In most cases when the brake or parking light comes on it's due to the switch not making full contact with the parking brake linkage. Sometimes just manually pulling the brake back will make the light go off. Fix is to adjust the switch out just a little so that the switch goes off when the brake is released.
They only activate when the car is in gear and the parking brake is disengaged. find the grounding wire off the parking brake lever and break the ground when brake is disengaged, you may also lose you parking brake warning light. Not sure if it's on a seperate circuit or not.
no the P light ans system will always be on unless you command a drive or N funtion since there is no 'park' in the drive train only a mechanical brake. when running/on, when you put in drive it should acknoledge drive and P should unlock. if not you have trouble and need the dealer
First, make sure your parking brake is off. Remove the rear caliper and then the brake pad housing. In the center hub of the rotor the parking brake shoes are located. The may need to be loosen first. There is a hole between 2 of the studs you need to align at the bottom. Look in the hole with a flashlight and find the star wheel. Use a screw driver to turn the wheel up a few turns to loosen the parking brake shoes from the rotor hub. After that there are 2 threaded holes in the rotor near the studs you put two 8mm bolts in and slowly tighten each and it will pull the rotor off the hub. They rust up pretty bad so use penetrating oil on them.
this could also result from low brake fluid check the brake level if it is full un plug the switch @ the e-brake lever and see if it goes out if it dose the switch needs replaced
Thank you Raffaiel, where exactly is the parking brake switch?
