I just had the same problem with a Hotpoint 7810 plus , its been going strong for 20 years and its seems a shame to replace with a machine designed with 3-5 year obselesence. In my case the drain pump was blocked with small fragments of what looked like plastic but could have been limescale. Tools needed:-8mm Socket and nut runner(socket-screwdriver adapter) . ensure machine is empty but some water will be still in the salt dispenser so lay down towels/heavy blankets. Turn machine over onto front face, rotate through 90deg to place on its side, remove the base front panel 2 small pk screws gets access to drain pump area, unclip drain hose and pull off pipe from drain pump, unscrew 2 mounting screws holding drainpump , pull drain pump off of base unit, reove earth and to other power connectors (make a note of what connections go where. check to see if impellor can rotate or for obvious blockages. You can get a replacement drain pump for about £25-35 if it not a simple case of unblocking.

Check your air gap on your kitchen sink. If equipped, you will most likely find it clogged. Pull off the metal cap, then unscrew the white or clear cap. You should find your clog there. Replace both caps and remember to pre-rinse the dishes better before loading.

Your drain valve solenoid could be defective. Drop the access panel at the bottom and you should see the solenoid directly in front of you. It will have two wires and a silver cylindrical plunger going into the center of it. Check for continuity between the two terminals. If it is open (no continuity) replace it.

Hotpoint sdw dishwasher

It is possible drain pump blocked, you need to empty d/washer manually, check inside drain pump which is at end of drain hose, always isolate d/washer from power before attempting any work on it.

Does not drain

take the front cover off and have a bucket and towels ready ,, remove the hose clamp off the drain line and remove it slowly to keep up with the water that will seep out of the line after it stops draining run water theu the drain and flush the system the take the hose off and run water thru it ,, out side,, then check if it goes into an air gap clear both sides of the air gap and all hoses,, if after doing all of this and it still won't drain, you will need to change the pump
