Thats all i wanted to know, thanks!
So, Armada has Socket 370?? I tought it had Pentium Mobile Socket. Right now it's a 450MHz P3 CPU inside and i want to upgrade to 1.0GHz P3. In that case should i Buy a Pentium 3 Mobile or a P3 for Socket 370??
Will any P3 for Socket 370 do?? Even those for Desktop Computers? Thank you so much for clarifying!!

Intel processors Socket 1 169 pins 486 SX/DX Socket 2 238 pins 486 SX/DX/DX2 Socket 3 237 pins 486 SX/DX/DX2/DX4 Socket 6 235 pins 486 DX4 Socket 4 273 pins Pentium 60 en 66MHz Socket 5 320 pins Pentium 75 t/m 200MHz Socket 7 321 pins Pentium, AMD K6/K6-2/K6-3, Cyrix M1/M2 Socket 8 387 pins Pentium Pro 150 - 200MHz Slot 1 242 pins PII, PIII en Celeron Slot 2 330 pins PII Xeon en P III Xeon Socket 370 370 pins PIII, Celeron, Cyrix III Socket 423/478 423/478 pins Pentium4 Socket 603 603 pins Pentium4 Xeon PAC418 418 pins Intel Itanium PAC611 611 pins Intel Itanium 2 AMD processors Slot A 242 pins Athlon Socket A 453 pins Athlon, Athlon XP, Athlon MP and Duron Socket 754 754 pins AMD Athlon 64 Socket 940 940 pins AMD Opteron Conclusion: You can not upgrade beacuse Armada M700 has a pentium III processor with 370 pins. So the Socket 478 pinned pentium is not suitable. Advise: Try to exchange it with a new laptop or buy a used laptop for suitabl configuration

Upgrade compaq armada e500

It has been a while but I think it isn't a zif but a standard low profile socket. You need a good light and check the edges to see if you can see the layers or where the cpu edges are. You should see the color differences between the plastic or the socket and the cpu. From above it will look like just a cpu but from the sides you should see the cpu overhand the socket a small bit or be flush with the edges.

The cpu has to be a M series P3 and you may need to adjust bus speeds and/or ram speed to make it work. May also have to upgrade bios as well.

I want to upgrade cpu

You need to find out what is compatible with your computer before you can look. I suggest googling what will work with whatever type of laptop you have then search for it on Newegg.com. I would like to go into more detail but the information you provided is below minimum.

Compaq Armada 1590DT, upgrade the RAM

I currently have three Armada's. I put XP on one - ran like kukua until I upped the memory. I think I put in a gig or 2. I found mine at www.4allmemory.com though this is not the only place in the world to get it. I put a new battery in the same computer. So, now I'm invested about $250.00 over the original investment. Frankly, I am disappointed when comparing the Armada to my new Acer Aspire 1. Pound for pound, the Acer is the better investment.

Yet... If you can live with W98, Second Ed. (which is really a better option for this particular computer), the Armada will travel, communicate, browse, e-mail, write notes and letters with the best of them. It is also very classy!

I have not had the machine open. I seem to recall that the processor can be changed ... but to what point? You will not get to anything current except for the cost! I also changed the keyboard on the Armada I use from time to time. I originally had 6 Armada's.

You may want to visit www.pcpitstop.com and have your Armada scanned for free. They will have suggestions for upgradability and they will recommend sources for you to consider.

I hope my experience is of come value to you as you contemplate your upgrade.

I have an IBM thinkcentre m51 that I am trying to upgrade to a dual core processor. It seems that it won't take it. Is there a setting on the bios that will allow the motherboard to support a dual core...

Most major manufactures use motherboard designed to their specs and upgrades to the processor are limited. You can use software such as Belarc Advisor, to determine what motherboard you have and then you can search the net to determine what processors are compatible with it.

Memory Slots

I wasn't able to find where exactly your memory modules are located, but there are either on the bottom of the laptop with just a screw and plastic cover on top of them, or they are underneath the keyboard.

Here are the specs for the Armada M700. This will let you know what type and how large you can take it too.

Compaq M700 Ram Upgrade the second

i can find no spec on this but,if your notebook can take upt 576MB of memory, i would expect 2 x 256MB to be the max, as installing 1 x 512MB would be doubling the capacity allowed by one module slot.
